How does Roku make money

I would say that right now their primary revenue stream is hardware sales. They may have some revenue sharing deals with some of the content providers like Netflix as well.

Hmmm, I have heard from more than a few people that they have had their money refunded when they returned their units. So I guess that statement was just flat out untrue.

If you have your postal reciept, and delivery confirmation, I would recommend sending RokuJamesL a private message and see if he can get it squared away for you.

Roku makes money by selling hardware AND they have an agreement with NetFlix to receive revenue based on performance measures for number of videos streamed, etc. I don't know about their deals with others, but I know about Netflix. Similar to Apple making money off of iTunes...

If it's not one thing it's another - call 1 through 6 they had no excuse but said I'd get a check in "2 to 5 business days."

After a few months, I called PayPal and opened a dispute and told Roku on call 7 and via email that I was filing a dispute because I am only getting the run-a-round.

Then on calls 8 through 10 I got the "you filed a dispute so we can't give you a refund" excuse.

Then on call 11 last week I talked to "Anthony West" who promised I would have a refund no later than April 20th. This was also a lie.

Then on call 12, "Eric Anderson" made me do a three-way call with PayPal which the PayPal rep had no records of any attempt of giving a refund. Big surprise. I then emailed all the Roku workers on this forum.

It’s too organized to be a fluke. It’s very much taught and intentional. I just got a refund today after a total of 12 phone calls since Christmas.

I actually liked Roku as a product, but I purchased it for my sister as a Christmas gift and she did not want it. Their “customer service” is down right criminal…and I’m sure most people give up.
