|
|
Hi
I have a soundbridge which I previously used with firefly successfully.
I have just replaced my pc server with a mybookworld NAS which runs twonky MS. The Soundbridge ver 3.0.44 firmware cannot see this and reports that an incompatible DAAP server exists. I bought the Mybookworld server specifically to run as a media server after checking compatibility and it will not work with the Roku.
What do I need to do?? |

hectormc,
welcome to the forums.
The "incompatible DAAP server" isn't the Twonky on your NAS, it's the "iTunes" server. DAAP (Digital Audio Access Protocol) is Apple's proprietary protocol. Apparently this specific "iTunes" server version on your NAS (presumably a modified mt-daapd aka Firefly) is incompatible with your SoundBridge.
Twonky is a UPnP AV server. You should see it on your SoundBridge with the name of your NAS or "PVConnect".
As the SoundBridge can't cooperate with your NAS's "iTunes" server you should disable it (see page 139 of the manual).
Greetings

hectormc,
Auntie Google told me that you will find the manual here.
The Twonky server should be listed on your SoundBridge if with the remote you chose Home -> Change Library or Configuration. You might have to scroll as the SoundBridge tends to remember all servers it was ever connected to.
Check that the "iTunes server" on your NAS (which in fact is an older version of mt-daapd) is really disabled. If it's still running you should be able to reach it by accessing http://IP.of.your.NAS:3689 with your browser.
Twonky should be reachable at http://IP.of.your.NAS:9000.
Finally make sure that Firefly is not running on your PC.
Greetings

Thanks for the info
didn't realise you meant the NAS manual doh!!
Soundbridge wont let me scroll servers as it is convinced ther is a itune daap server running and only gives the option to go to radio after advising that I could run firely. Ive checked all the pcs in the house and no Itunes shared music running and the NAS is NOT running the Itunes server the connection times out (...well it doesnt actually just keeps trying to connect). The twonky IP connects OK.
Im running a sony vaio laptop that thinks its media savvy there might be some default crap running on that, how do I check ? |

That's probably part of your problem. An early version of FireFly must still be running on the NAS and these versions are not compatible with the Pinnacle SB's as they did not license daap. Keep searching for a way to shut down Firefly. Can you see what processes are running on the box? |
