Type of hdmi cable?

Postby americasroof » Wed Sep 29, 2010 6:15 pm

When I bought the roku hi def from Amazon I also bought the hdmi cable it said other people bought with the order. That cable plugs into my haier hl42xd2 (and also works with my dvd player) however when i try to plug it in the roku it is too big. What cable do I need? I'm surprised that's not clear anywhere as there seems to be so many varieties.

What was the cable you bought exactly? HDMI is standard so it should fit. The Roku has a standard HDMI connection on it. Sometimes HDMI cables are a really tight fit, also, if it is a really cheap cable, that could be an issue.

If it it is this cable, then it should fit fine in the Roku.

That is a pretty cheap cable, so I would say their quality control is not that great. I would try switching the cable around and plug the end you plugged into your HDMI switch into the Roku.

Speaking of HDMI Cables, what is a sign that you may have a bad cable. I have tried two different cable boxes that connect to my Mitsubishi HD Television (its an old one 6 years old) anyway sometimes when I change formats from 720p to 480p the format change is not processed. I have to switch back to the prior format I was in....Is this a sign of a bad hdmi cable or a bad hdmi port on the television?

I'm glad to see that people are smartly buying low-cost HDMI cables.

I'm always dumbfounded when I go into a Best Buy or similar retailer and all you can find are HDMI cables for $29.95 or much worse. Retailers have tried to make HDMI into some kind of "magical" interface that requires expensive cables. Just say no.

I would be careful of Meritline. A number of people have reported thief of their credit card info after shopping with Meritline.com.

I don't see the appeal? Am I missing something? I have heard of this site. Just don't see where the prices are so great though?

I buy stuff from them all the time but I think I've always used my PayPal account with them and no problems.
