How do I add or remove channels online?

Postby albaran » Thu Jan 19, 2012 8:16 am

I just got my Roku setup and started with Netflix and Pandora and now would like to add more channels online.
The problem is when I hit the "add channel" button it arbitrarily picks a channel I don't want. How do I select a specific channel, and remove a channel I don't want? Is this something that can only be done through the TV and if so, how do I get back to that menu?

Do you mean Private channels? If so, there's a problem on Roku's end at the moment. A fix is on the way.
If you mean Public channels, they're added from the Channel Store on the box.
All channels can be removed from the "My Channels" row at the top of the Channel Store or by pressing
the * button on the remote.

Go into the ch store off the Roku main screen and add from there.

For private chs see this site and you can add from the links provided.

So what you are saying is I have to use the menu on the tv to remove or add channels. But why did it add channels I don't want from the website?

Because it could. :)

Actually there are issues with adding private chs that may be effecting the add new chs as well as the re-adding of previously removed chs.

I have seen at least one other report of incorrect chs being added.

Roku has said that they will release a fix for the remove/re-add problem on Friday or sooner if possible and hopefully it will address your issue as well.

You can add them in browser if you know the private channel code, but I don't think there's any way to delete them through browser once added, so you have to do it through the roku box/tv...

were you on your roku accout page under "add a private channel" when it added channels, or in the channel store ["What's on"] on the roku website? the "channel store" on roku.com isn't really a channel store, more like a listing, and not a complete one. i've noticed in the past that some of the icons in the "channel store" have links to add channels and not all of them are incorrect. for a while last year the NBA game time lite channel icon linked to the NHL Vault add channel code.
and since most of the icons are just icons, not links, i don't understand why they made any of them work as links at all.

bookmark this link

https://owner.roku.com/Add/ and when you get to the page you can add channels from the code if you have it.

but, as has also been pointed out, adding private channels is a little wonky right now. in another thread it was mentioned that there should be a fix tomorrow.

I can understand the need for having channels added through the Roku menu and not online, but I see at least one channel online (You Don't Know Jack) that I can't find through the Roku Add Channels menu :?

^ It's there. Look in Featured Channels or Games.
