Code 011 error

I had a Roku XD in my family room that the Ethernet seemed to fail. I wasn't too worried about it since I really wanted to replace this unit with a new XS. So I purchased the XS and it has been great until this morning. The exact same problem crops up and I think well it can't possibly be the same failure. I start swapping cables and Ethernet ports to no avail. I then perform a hard reset and upon setting it up after the hard reset it hangs with a code 011. I think okay well lets move to another location on the network. I unplug a working Roku XD|S so I know there is not a problem at this location on my network. Exact same problem, code 011. Meanwhile I pull out the old XD and plug it in and it is working fine in the family room. The only thing I have done is leave it unplugged for two months. So now I am thinking there is a firmware problem with Roku. I'm not certain what to do with my almost new Roku 2 XS. Any ideas?

Could be your router is on the way out.

No I am 100% positive my router is fine. I run a commercial small business router. The 20 or so other devices I have including my VoIP phone are all working fine and this includes two other Roku boxes I have tested this morning. I thought it might be my switch in the family room but testing another Roku and my network connected television showed that it is fine.

Yeah I had already read most of those threads and done all of the suggestions listed. I think I'll try again is a holding the reset button longer. I didn't try for thirty seconds like some posts have suggested, rather fifteen or twenty seconds.

Yes, at least 30 seconds to reset. Less just reboots.

Well I got it working but I think there is a firmware bug in this thing. Resets did not work. I plugged it directly into my cable modem and it connected. Well I couldn't activate the reset Roku since the only thing plugged into it was the Roku. I put it back on the correct side of my router and now it is downloading fine. There is a bug somewhere. This problems appears to be occurring at DHCP lease time. The wireless chip is also having issues but I suspect that is just because I use a lot of symbols inn my wireless password and a lot of devices don't like iit when you do that.

It's right back in the family room where it started having problems and it is now running fine. Man I wish knew what is tripping this bug.

Powered it off last night and booted it back up this morning. I am right back to where I was with no network connectivity. It won't connect to the Internet. Every other device on my network is working fine including the Roku unit this one replaced. Is there a problem with power cycling these units? It was left powered on for about 48 hours and there were not problems during that period I powered it off last night and back on this morning, no network connectivity.

Disregard. The bug is nothing more than the idiot at the keyboard. I have two DHCP servers on my network, one is blocked via an ACL. I rewired my network last week and it appears I plugged the device with the unwanted DHCP server into the wrong port and the Roku was picking an address from it.

Yeah there is some truth there. The trouble with a lot of home networking devices is the manufactures try to make it idiot proof but the result is if you are running a slightly complex network the idiot proof does not work as needed. In this case I have device I use for VoIP and it has a built in DHCP server with no way to turn it off. I use an ACL on my router to block the DHCP server on this device.
