that site is a content aggregator of basically (for lack of a better term) pirated movies all over the web. They seem to be offered in either Flash or Divx .avi formats, and neither are playable on Roku. For example, the first film, "Wrath of the Titans" is a cam rip where someone videotaped the screen.

I'm still looking through the channel listings and I see a number of listings that go to a web site and no instruction as to how to use it through Roku. If what you're saying is true, and I have no reason to doubt you, why are they allowed to list in the Roku channel listing?

anyone can have a private channel, and that web list isn't associated with the Roku company so it's not like they would need to be allowed. If you notice, there is no "channel code", just a link to the main site. When I hover over the link it shows google as part of the address, which to me means that the author of that lilst might be part of an affiliate program that gets "click" revenue from people following the link. There is no channel for that site, and to my knowledge never has been

I think you'll find that's not Roku's Website.

If you do a WhoIs search on roku.com, you'll find:
Registrant:
Roku, Inc.
Domain Administrator
12980 Saratoga Ave.
Saratoga, CA 95070
US

However, if you do a WhoIs search on roku-channels.com, you'll find:
Registrant:
Joshua Ferris
[address redacted]
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19123
United States

Not the same.

Dude put up a Website with a list of channels. It may or may not be up to date. And, Roku isn't involved with that Website.

ok.. I can understand that, but they must be working together. The channel list site makes this reference..
Remember that to add any channel that requires a code, you must go to https://owner.roku.com/Account/ChannelCode/.

No, that doesn't mean they're working together. It just means he was trying to be helpful by telling users how to add the private channels he was listing. I could post such information on one of my Websites, but it doesn't mean Roku and I are working together.

and that reference is correct, you must enter the code provided in at that address after you've logged in to your Roku account. There is no code for freefullmovies

I know if I had a website that was legal, I'd hate for it to be advertised in the same website that references pirated material.
But, I guess that's Roku's call, not mine.

Thanks for the insight. Disappointed, but just the same, glad to know.

If you are looking for a reliable listing of available Roku channels, here are some:
http://catastrophegirlsrokuchanneldata.blogspot.com/
http://www.streamfree.tv/tag/roku-channels-2/
http://www.thenowhereman.com/roku/

These Websites are not maintained by Roku, but have a history of being reliable.

weirdly, at some point in the past few months the roku channel database you referenced ( http://www.roku-channels.com/) showed up in my google documents listing me as an administrator. i think the site owner is hoping i will go in and clean up the insane mess that is that page - anyone can add a "listing" to it and it doesn't have to be correct.
i've got my hands full with my own site and keeping it correct and up to date, i haven't got the time to do more.
when i first saw that site about a year ago it was pretty good, mostly up to date and usually accurate.

now it seems to have become a place where people request channels they want to see, enter their device linking codes for the roku facebook channel inappropriately and other users create fake spoof channel info to highlight how messed up the page is.

streamfree.tv and my site are both regularly swept for dead channels and we both respond to contact attempts and feedback. the nowhereman maintains his list of channels he has developed and it's the most up to date place for his creations.

neither my site, streamfree, rokuguide.com nor the roku channel database are affiliated with roku. although i am part of the roku-tell-a-pal referral program
