First power off your Roku and then plug it back in and let it reboot.
If that does not work then: Inside the battery cover there is a red button. Try pressing that.

If those fail then check back here and we will give you a few other things to try.

I had to use this manual pairing button to get my remote to work on initial setup of my 2XS. I had to keep it depressed for 30 seconds.

I can't get my remote to reconnect after a factory reset. I powered down the roku and pressed the button for 40 seconds on the inside of the remote battery area. Still nothing. It is a roku 2. Thank you

A Roku 2 XS (model 3100) uses a Bluetooth remote. The Roku 2 (model 2720) uses a WiFi direct remote. The new Roku 2 (model 4210) uses an IR remote. I assume you have older Roku 2 (2720).

The steps to re-pair the remotes can be found here: http://roku.zendesk.com/entries/22282324-Roku-remotes-overview#location_repair
Remote pairing instructions - (if remote is unresponsive/unpaired)
Roku 2 XS model 3100 (Enhanced game remote)
Roku 2 model 2720 (Enhanced remote with headphone jack)
Roku 3 model 4200 (Enhanced remote with headphone jack)
Roku Streaming Stick HDMI version model 3500 (Standard remote)

If your remote stops responding, try removing and reinserting the batteries first:
  • Open the battery compartment.
  • Remove and reinsert the batteries, following the correct battery orientations.
If that doesn't fix the problem, try pairing the remote again:
  • Open the battery compartment and locate the pairing button.
  • Press and hold the pairing button for at least 3 seconds. (front LEDs will blink)
  • Power cycle the Roku player. (unplug the power connector and plug back in)
  • During the start up process, the Roku remote will automatically pair to your Roku player. (the front LEDs will stop flashing)

Hi, i am not sure what kind of roku tv i have. It says ROKU TV on the bottom right, TCL on the bottom middle, and HDMI on the bottom left of the tv. i don't know if that helps tell what kind it is. Anyways i lost my remote for it a wile ago and i got a replacement remote for it. i dont have a roku player, the tv didnt come with 1. i dont know if i need it. i was able to use it without the roku player before it broke. The thing is, i can not connect this new remote to the roku tv. i tried tuning it off and unpluging it then letting it reboot but that didnt work. so i looked took out the batteries and looked for the button but i cant find it. i dont know what to do. thank you

a Roku TV uses an IR remote and does not need to be paired -- the replacement remote must be an actual TCL tv remote or a universal that you can code to it --- a Roku player remote will not work
ROKU 1 XD J0A113014862
ROKU 2 LT 16A182002191
ROKU 2 LT #2 16A19K025194

Roku TV 2N002P050587 2WE012050587
ROKU HDMI STICK 2L64AW112785
