linking remote with roku

Postby bittenbydustmites » Thu Jun 07, 2012 9:43 pm

I have a roku LT, came with a rather nice remote with netflix/pandora/crackle buttons on it. well the home and back buttons didn't work after first week. I know i need a new remote. well if i was TS my companies sat tv remotes, that's when we'd replace them no questions asked. so they sent me out a remote with a green A and blue B button, much bulkier and uglier, and i can't get it to pair or find instructions on pairing it. search seems to just show a buttload of unrelated things, I can't find anywhere in the menu about what the remote address/freq is, so leads me to believe on my LT it's just a universal IR freq being put out. maybe im wrong? I TS other remotes/receivers for a living but anyway...

Did they send me the wrong remote or is there a trick to link this thing?

You now have a bluetooth remote. Disconnect the power to your Roku and take the batteries out of the remote control. Restore power to the Roku box, after it has rebooted replace the batteries in the remote control. Depress the manual pairing button under the battery cover on the remote, leave the button depressed at least 30 seconds. There may be other ways but this is what worked for me, good luck.

The LT remote doesn't have a pairing button.

Nor does the LT have bluetooth. bittenbydustmites, I'm sorry to inform you that they sent the wrong remote. That remote(with A and B buttons) uses bluetooth, and is only compatible with the more expensive models of Roku 2 (the XD and XS). Unfortunately, your LT box only works via infrared signals. As you've already tried to get tech support via the normal means and haven't had your issue resolved, the Forum Community Liaison, RokuShawnS may be able to help you get it resolved. I suggest contacting him via private message(there's a link you can click on his profile). In the mean time, you could use a network remote like Remoku, as a stopgap measure.
