According to all the posts on this forum the answer is yes. However I do not really believe it can happen unless they strip the channel down quite a bit. I doubt the R2's hardware can support the YouTube channel in its current form.

I think if they do release the channel in its current form to the R2s and lesser Rokus there will be a slew of complaints.

I suspect you mean "Roku is getting a slew of complaints." If so, that's misdirected. Google owns YouTube and created the channel that works on the Roku 3. They will be releasing any channel that works on the Roku 2. Complaining to or about Roku isn't complaining to the right people.

If you do mean "Google is getting a slew of complaints," then I stand corrected.

what was wrong with the old Youtube that we had originally?
worked fine on the original Roku and the Roku XDS.
why 'fix' what wasn't broken?

Google owns YouTube and had that unofficial channel pulled. Google developed the YouTube channel that runs on the Roku 3.

Nothing, expect that it wasn't made/developed by Google. At some point, some videos had playback issues before it was pulled out but it was a minor issue.

They don't have to release the exact same one that's on Roku 3 IMO. Just as long as we get a working youtube channel where you can link your account etc.

I use youtube through Plex, but sometimes you run into problems. For example - when trying to watch videos where you have to confirm your age, they won't play at all. Even when you link your account through the Plex youtube app, it still won't work.

Youtube has always had the ability to make a simple channel - but they have a look/feel they want for their channels, and want the same if they're going to be available on older Rokus.

I understand that. But if the hardware isn't up to par and can't run a certain layout/feature(s), there's really nothing you can do about it. Just give us a nice working channel (which I'm sure they could do).

Google could, but the point is they don't want to.
That's why there had never been an offical YouTube on Roku until the R3.

Since you have Plex installed, Plex It (My Plex)...it works for me.

Cant Google rework the old working youtube channel for the older Roku's with the permission of the original author?
Just give him a job!
