Replacement AC Adaptor Question

Postby tslifset » Mon Jan 25, 2010 11:10 am

Due to a move, I am in need of a replacement AC adaptor.

On the accessory page, the Digital Video Player Power Adapter states: "Replacement power adapter for Roku DVP. 5.2VDC 2.5A."

I bought my Roku some years ago and back of the device states the power should be 5V, 1.5A.

Does the replacement power adaptor work with my Roku?

Thanks.

You definitely want the one currently sold - the original ones were crap and these forums have numerous threads from owners with dead PSUs.

TMI alert

With power amperage is how much power a brick can supply. A high number is fine since the Roku will only draw what it needs.

I think of it like this
Voltage = water pressure: has to be right
Amp = amount of water flowing: has to be rated higher than what the device requires

mkiker is right. The device will draw only what it needs. Another example: Your household AC service is usually between 100 and 200 amps, but the 100 watt light bulb you plug into it only draws what it uses,100 watts. (we won't consider circuit breakers at the moment )
