I downloaded the playon software on Friday so I should have the latest version. Are there any settings that can be modified to help the buffering? I did a speed test and it came back 9.15 mbps and ping 26ms.
Roku XD NTV250
So you have the bandwidth and processing power. Go into the PlayOn settings, look at the 'System Check' tab. Does everything say 'Passed' and is green? Then go back to the General settings tab, what is your 'Video Performance' set to? You can try lowering that one tier at a time to see if it improves. Also, remove the check mark by 'Always Process Entire Media File'.
My machine is not that different than yours. It's a quad core with 8gb. At any time I have 89-120 processes running including Outlook, Trillian, a weather program, my sidebar gadgets Winamp, and more all running at the same time as PlayOn is processing a media file for streaming. Do you have a game console? Use PlayOn with it and see if the same issue occurs. If you have an iPhone try using PlayOn with that and see if the issue occurs. make sure mobile access is enabled then just point your iPhone browser to http://m.playon.tv
If not, then it is either the Roku's hardware (not likely) or an issue with the way the channel is interfacing with PlayOn. Since the channel is an alpha that may be an issue, but I am not seeing it here. Be sure nothing is using your bandwidth, be sure there is no malware on your system. Change your router's frequency if it allows it as cordless phones may interfere with it. That actually happened here and changing my router's channel fixed it.
Other than that, hit the 'Support' button on the General tab of PlayOn's settings, submit a support ticket explaining the issue. The support button automatically uploads a log file and maybe they can parse it to help figure out where the bottleneck is. I have never had good luck with their support system, it seems they read the file and tell you they cannot help you. You may have better luck though. I highly doubt they will support your use of the Roku channel and use that as an excuse to blow you off.
