NCAA March Madness?

Postby annerD23 » Sat Jan 08, 2011 11:11 pm

Anyone know of talk to get a March Madness channel? CBS usually offers these games for free (with advertising) via their webpage. This seems like a great opportunity for either an official or private channel on Roku.

Do they have an iphone/ipad app? If so, then its likely the streams are in a compatible format. It would just be a matter of a dev with an iphone/ipad to snoop the traffic to see how it talks to the cbs servers.

If someone wants to buy me an iOS device, I'd gladly make a private channel. :)

I found this info with a quick google search: http://www.iphoneworld.ca/news/2010/03/ ... fers-more/ . Looks like they had an iPhone app last year, but it wasn't free. If they do a similar thing, maybe there's a way to get the streaming content onto Roku. I mean... I'd pay a few bucks to have every college game (and still not have cable).

I also wish there was an ESPN channel... but I feel like everyone probably does.

I sent an email to Nowhere Man asking this very thing. He said "Keep an eye on Nowhere TV. March Madness may just show up there in the next few days." Hopefully he'll be able to livestream since it's the first time in history that all of the NCAA games will be free online.

UPDATE: Chris (Nowhere Man) just did it! There is now a March Madness channel on Nowhere TV. Checking it out when I get home.

I went to http://www.thenowhereman.com/roku/ There was a way to add it as a private channel and said it could take up to 24 hrs to update. Hopefully it works :)

just go to the channel store and then back to the home screen and it should be updated, so you don't have to wait the whole 24 hours.
