I would check the roConnect google group first, there may be some discussion in the "Known Errors" post (http://groups.google.com/group/rokuconnnect). Also you can post your problem there and I can easily help you get things going.

Due to unforseen issues with Roku we've had to move our site to http://www.ro-connect.com/. Check it out, we've got the next iteration of our webapp and channel coming soon and the Android app is heading to the marketplace soon!

Could the "unforeseen circumstance" be that you used their company name as the name of your product? ;) I think you could have seen that coming :)

This looks pretty cool. Getting it set up now. Do you really require a full MAMP stack? Could you get by with a smaller web server? Downloading a 200MB package to run this is kind of a pain unless absolutely necessary. (I am on OS X, which has a built-in web server).

edit: Yeah, I'm not going to be running MAMP. It's 740MB installed. You need a different, smaller method.

Unforseen is relative to experience in my case. But the app can be run on any php + apache setup. I've messed with setting it up on the built-in apache/php bundled on OS X, the only problem is permissions on the httpd.conf file for apache. It's definitely doable and I've just yet to write a install for that due to the fact is it's probably easier for most users to just install a pre-bundled apache+php stack like MAMP instead of getting into the terminal. Eventually I'll move to a native app that bundles the bare essentials but until then this is what I got.

roConnect v1.2
roConnect version 1.2 is here and available for download at http://www.ro-connect.com/! roConnect is the best way to stream your video collection from your personal computer to your Roku player, Android device, and network computers.

Server Updates
Version 1.2 provides an improved setup process to help you have your roConnect server up and running in no time. We have also added a more robust error checking system to help avoid any configuration problems. Version 1.2 drops the use of FFMPEG and comes fully integrated with MediaInfo to gather video metadata. We have added several new configuration settings, including the ability to recursively index videos in sub-folders from the designated video folder. Also, when indexing videos you are now provided with a progress bar to keep track of the indexing process.

Android App Release
roConnect is also pleased to announce the release of the roConnect Android app. Now browse your roConnect video library from your Android device and watch your videos right on the device. The app also includes a virtual Roku remote that allows full control of your Roku player, instant channel hopping, and a keyboard. This app also provides our "roPush" feature, allowing users to push any video they are watching on their Android device to their Roku player instantly, resuming exactly where you left off.

roConnect Channel
The roConnect Roku channel has also come with an updated UI and improved error checking to allow users a seamless and improved experience.

Check it out today at http://www.ro-connect.com/

I just installed it and added the channel on my Roku. When I go to the
website it tells me I get some error: HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found
The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name
changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
Then when I try to "Put Online" I get another error that says it's
internal.
What do I need to do?

Honestly this should be easier to get set up. I just installed it on
my Windows 7 machine and want this to run, but it is not. What do I
need to do??? PLEASE HELP!!!!

I called Roku and they recommended several pay options but also RoConnect which, as I remember cost only $0.99. Unfortunately, and I am really a novice at all of this, I could not make the connection. I received the following error message:

The roConnect Roku client on the Roku channel add page indicates a fee of $0.99 will be charged.

Is that a per month fee?

Thanks!

Before I try this, I have a couple questions.

1) How does roConnect play with multiple webservers on the same computer? I already have server sites being server from my Mac (DMZ webserver) using Apache now.

2) Does roConnect support https encryption? Since my mac is facing the internet, I would like to have this stream encrypted to keep others from watching (say SOPA) streams of my ripped DVDs.

1) It is using Apache as the underlying server so you can just add the project to your existing apache setup and it should work fine.
2) I have never tested with HTTPS, so I'm not sure if that will work with the Roku channel. I'm sure you could server it up under that protocol but I've never investigated if the Roku player can handle HTTPS, and if so what additional code would be needed on the client side.

If you have to release <I just took a Roku to the knee> like roConnect, have the decency to not charge for it since I'm now working as a beta tester. I'm a software engineer and I can tell you that this thing stinks. Have u ever used an Apple product before? The standards for software are now different. Wasting people's time is the same thing as stealing their money. Its such a pain to get this thing to work. I dont even want to waste time telling you what the problem was. I'm out
