Roku error log

Postby -LD » Mon Apr 18, 2011 6:14 pm

I am going to use this thread to document all the various errors, lockups, failure of the remote to respond, and any other errors. This is not comprehensive and I will likely only post maybe half the errors. I've had at least 3 other errors earlier today before I started jotting them down n

Times are PST.

XD connected to a Philips 32" 720p LCD (I don't know what model) via HDMI
n1000 connected to a Proscan 40" 1080p (though only at 720p resolution limit of the n1000) ia HDMI - also don't know the model

4/18/11 18:07 - XD completely stopped responding to the remote while watching Hulu.

Exact same thing happens to me with XD|S. I usually notice it if we put a HuluPlus video on pause, walk away for some time, then come back and try to play it. It becomes unresponsive to the remote. In actuality, it does seem to listen to it, but the response time is MINUTES. I end up resetting the Roku box to clear it.

This might be an issue with the HuluPlus channel programing as opposed to the box itself (?). I don't have the issue on other channels.

XD|S just ups & reboots every once in a while, usually while watching something in the Netflix channel.

My XD|S doesn't seem to reboot itself. But it occasionally slows way down then locks up on a HuluPlus show, requiring reboot.

They usually don't reboot but if they do be sure to tell us when, or at least post immediatly when they do so we have a timestamp. Make sure Shawn has your serial number also. I post mine in my message since I don't think Rokus are hackable or anything but if you want you can PM it.

I found once that when I got the remote error if I hit the keys really fast the box got far enough behind to reboot on it's own. It's sort of cheating I suppose :D but if it gets a reboot with a good error log then go for it.

4/21/2011 ~20:00 - XD stopped responding to remote for at least a minute while watching Netflix. There was a weird PIP type of effect that I've seen before where the video is playing then spazzes out and also plays in what looks like a PIP and it jumps back and forth until I seize and foam from the mouth.

where the video is playing then spazzes out

Can you clarify "spazzes out" please? :) And what channel/video were you watching at the time?

Thanks,

I explained it in my post right after I said it spazzes out.

Not sure if it applies but Netflix was having some issues last night. I was having problems on three different ROKU's

Ah, got it ... I thought that was the case but I wanted to be sure.

What channel/movie were you watching? If Netflix, that might be part of the outage last evening.

I'm not trying to be difficult or obtuse, but it's in my post.

An outage wouldn't explain the PIP flashing. That's all Roku.

Not trying to be difficult either but he did ask what MOVIE you were watching in which you did not post. Sometimes certain movies themselves can have issues but I kinda doubt that's your issue. Could you tell what was flashing IN the PIP?

Sorry, I missed the Netflix thing altogether :)

But yeah, the movie/series would be of help as well, which is why I asked.
