That I don't know. We'll have to get James or someone to pipe in on that.

*edit* corrected the size :)

So if AngryBirds is 50MB, does that mean the special gaming SDK will raise the channel size limit when you sideload your game development in progress from the current 512KB limitation?

With the new channel caching, I don't see any reason it couldn't be increased, but requiring an SD card for users to use your channel might turn some people off (not to mention that it wouldn't be available on the older boxes).

Is there any sort of diagnostics for the Micro SD card? I popped in a 1GB card I had that I wasn't sure would work or not. Is it safe to say that if it formatted ok then the card is ok to use? Could I experience trouble down the road if the card is too slow? One last question, is there any indication of how much space is left on the card?

I think the sd thing is going to need some more explanations.

It would be nice to tell it what to put on the card also. Like hitting the star button under games and there could be an option like "move to SD card".

Can someone make an SD channel?

The nonvolatile channel memory in the Roku2 is used as a cache. When starting a channel, if the channel is in the cache, it is started immediately. Otherwise the channel data is downloaded from the Roku channel server into the cache and then the channel is started. Least recently used channels are ejected from the cache if necessary to make room for the current one.

The SD card just increases the size of the cache, so you can fit more and/or larger channels in the cache without needing to download them as frequently.

Ahh, that's a much better description than I was given :)

So the Roku Channel Server stores which channels you have installed (in name only), and when called upon, will re-download the channel into the cache memory. So I did have it slightly backwards :)

Can I move Angry Birds to the SD card?
If so, can I play the game from the card or does
it need to be moved to the on board cache?
My point being: Won't need to delete the game
if it is causing problems, but, will moving it to
a card solve the trouble as opposed to deleting
the game which takes a long time to download.
Can you move the game to the card if the on-board
cache is not already filled?
I read where Support told a user to delete the
game as it was the the bane of his complaints.
He did, and the results were zippy
without crashes...

I don't think there's any reason for the game to be on the card. It just expands the memory and will be used as needed.
