Roku XR Hanging

Postby johnfl68 » Sun Oct 23, 2011 6:44 pm

Hello Roku people:

I have a Roku XR (N1101 OS 3.0 build 2227) that keeps hanging when it gets to about to the 10% mark when trying to play video from the TWiT channel.

This is the only Channel that this has happened to so far, and has been doing this for almost a week now.

Unplugging the device, and powering back up, I can then go to the TWiT channel and play things fine, but then about a day later (maybe something to do with the screensaver, or the clock advancing one day) and then it will hang again, always at the same point in starting to stream video from the TWiT channel.

I don't know what changed lately, but it's broke now, so please fix as soon as you can figure out why.

Thanks!

John

Mediafly, Inc is the developer of the TWIT channel, so you might want to report that and other problems to them, so they get the information directly.

did you happen to download the 3.0 firmware update?

and if so have you played any audio only channels before you played the twit channel?

reason i ask is many people are getting video hangups due to the 3.0 firmware update including me,whenever i play channels such as MOG Shoutcast orTunein, the video channels except netflix freezes around 10% during the retrieving process requiring a reboot of the roku box..

Hmmm....this is interesting. I've reported this same behavior but must have missed the part about streaming audio prior causing the freeze. I was using MyMedia earlier today to stream music from my PC, then shut things down and now went to view a stream on MediaFly and it locked up at about the 10% mark, fine after a reboot of Roku. This is a new development, as these are two things I commonly do.

I'm noticing lockups on my XR with the "Roku NEWSCASTER" channel.
1) NBC Nightly News gets to 10% then locks up have to pull the plug and restart, try again and it
does it again every time.
2) PBS "Washington Week" locks up at 10% as well.

Hope they fix it because it's an important news link for me.

This seems to work: :D
Go to Channel Store, Remove "Roku NEWSCASTER" channel.
Power off for 5 min or so. Go back to Channel Store Add "Roku NEWSCASTER" channel.
Was able to view "NBC Nightly News"
Able to watch "PBS Washington Week"
Will try the other items in NEWSCASTER

The fix is only temporary, I've had to repeat the Remove/Add of the "Roku NEWSCASTER"
to get around the locked up NBC Nightly News. :(
