Netflix Connection Issues - April 2012

Postby RokuShawnS » Tue Apr 03, 2012 3:50 pm

This thread is reserved specifically for new Netflix connection issues, for the month of April. We will be rolling out new threads for Netflix issues each month, in order to continue the focus of the thread, and keep things concise.

When posting to this thread, include as much relevant information as possible, including:

1. Roku1 or Roku2 (or both)
2. Roku Firmware Version (Settings > Firmware)
3. Router Make/Model
4. Wired/Wireless
5. Have you done a hard or factory reset?
6. Does it only happen at a particular time/day?
7. Downstream/Upstream Bandwidth
8. ISP
9. Your Location (State or Country [note: Country/Region is now critical information])
10. Connection type to your TV (RWY/HDMI, etc)
11. Number of computers/devices hooked up to your network
12. Any other information that may be of use (including video titles when necessary)

Whenever possible, Roku will post notification of outages if that information has been communicated.

Please note that this thread is for instances where your Roku player loses its network connection while actively functioning within Netflix (ie, watching a Netflix title, navigating the menus, etc). If you encounter an issue with Netflix that is not connection related, or a connection issue with other channels on the Roku player, please post a separate thread on it.

Thanks,

I have just setup my US bought Roku here in the uk. Everything works beautifully EXCEPT Netflix.
I have entered my user id and password but it's being rejected.
My netflix account works on my computer and my AppleTV

What am i doing wrong?

I have called the support desk, but they have had to escalate my problem. In the mean time I was wondering if anyone on the forum can help.

I have read on some forums that after upgrading to 4.3 the Roku should work ok here in the UK. I have a UK Netflix account.

Having a Roku 2 model with 4.3 firmware should work.

Firmware version and the build date
Version 024.03E01057A Date 20120229 17:32

Is my unit faulty? When I check the time zone, the time displayed is wrong although it shows Europe UK

HELPPPPPP :(

the problem is you have a U.S. Roku in the U.K.. The U.K. version I believe uses a different f/w and consequently a different NF channel. Send a PM to the moderator (C. Shawn) and maybe he can switch the f/w version on your box

PM me your serial number and real name/contact information. Most likely, you're going to need to contact Netflix to resolve this issue.

If you have the 4.3 firmware, you should be good to go, meaning that if you are unable to login using your normal UK Netflix credentials, only Netflix support will be able to help you (Roku doesn't have access to that stuff).

Hi,

I have sent you a PM.

I have also called Netflix as you suggested, and they have confirmed that everything is fine with my account.

Netflix works on my iPad, iPhone, Mac and Apple TV.

BUT NOT THE ROKU :-(

Netflix stopped retrieving, just not. I tried reactivating the account, and my netflix account is in good standing.

I have a Roku1, firmware version 3.1, it uses wireless with comcast. I'm in Illinois, and it's connected via hdmi.

PLEASE TRY AGAIN

The login request failed. Please verify that the information entered is correct.
Remeber, your email address is not case sensitive, but your password is.

Need help signing in? Visit netflix.com bla bla

Have tried everything and been on line to Roku support but no help.
I have reset the unit. Reloaded the firmware. Tried with different Netflix login account including ROKU's test id.
Deleted the channel and reinstalled it.

The unit just won't let me login to Netflix.

Everything else (all other channels includin BBC iPlayer work)

No one can confirm if there truly is a US and UK firmware 4.3 version.

Can some one help?

I ran into a very strange issue last night with only my 2100X. It loads the show/movie up in four dots HD quality (new shows or recent movies) then plays for between 54 seconds to 2 minutes 12 seconds at which time it buffers and playback returns at two dots quality. When was the last firmware update for these models? Has anything changed recently? After this happened I checked to all my settings and they are normal. I went and checked my other Roku and they were behaving properly. When I came back to the 2100X, it was showing the Roku screensaver and I had installed the weather screensaver which had been working fine until the buffering started. I have not reset or done a fac reset. We have not lost power and my 2100X is on a UPS anyway. All of these issues don't have a readily available answer from my point of view (unless its a recent NetFlix problem). It can't be bandwidth or WiFi as I am using CAT6 and have Uverse. Any ideas or suggestions?

1. Roku1 or Roku2 (or both) - Roku 2100
2. Roku Firmware Version (Settings > Firmware) - Version 3.1 B1011
3. Router Make/Model - Uverse WiFi gateway to Cisco SR2016 Gigabit Switch
4. Wired/Wireless - CAT6
5. Have you done a hard or factory reset? - No
6. Does it only happen at a particular time/day? - Just started last night
7. Downstream/Upstream Bandwidth - 18Mbps/1.5Mbps
8. ISP - Uverse
9. Your Location (State or Country [note: Country/Region is now critical information]) - Atlanta, GA
10. Connection type to your TV (RWY/HDMI, etc) - HDMI
11. Number of computers/devices hooked up to your network - 1 Linux, 2 Macs, 1 Audio/video server, 1 iPad, 2 iPhones, 1 SB Radio, 1 Boom, 1 Transporter, 1 ModWright Transporter, 1 Duet, 5 Touch, 1 SB3, N1000, 2100X, 3000X, 3100X, 1 Cisco SR2016 Gigabit Switch
12. Any other information that may be of use (including video titles when necessary)

Actually, your issues is the very definition of a Wifi/internet/bandwidth issue.

I'd give it 24 hours to see if it clears up, and/or reboot your entire network. Make sure the 2100 is the only thing connected upon rebooting the network, and then see if the same thing happens.

In fact loading the titles is taking quite a long time. Those are the issues folks. **Edit** Enough of an issue for me to join forum and post info.. Fix please--Thanks.

Every time I try to login to Netflix it reboots my Roku 2 box. It was working fine earlier today. It is not a WIFI issue as all my other channels work with no problems. It is also not my Netflix account as it is working on my other Roku1 box.

@trekkeriii I don't use at&t dns servers nor do I use anything google. My internet upstream/downstream is not the issue.

Actually, he is correct. 1.5Mb/s is the recommended minimum for streaming. By your specifications, you're at half the minimum recommended.

MAIN DIFFERENCE BETWEEN UK and US ROKU

Postby banu » Wed Apr 18, 2012 2:14 am

The main difference between the UK and US Firmware 4.3 versions are the US has Build 1057 whist the UK is Build 1051.

Could this be the reason my Roku Netflix doesn't work in the UK?

Could someone let me have a copy and instruction on how to change the firmware to the UK version so I can test my theory PLEASE.
