I just entered and exited the Channel Store and got a Netflix update as well, but I can't detect any changes.

You didn't have 5.1 sound and language selections in the "Audio and subtitles" dialog of the Netflix player on the LT until now?

Netflix and Crackle have new versions today but in the Channel Store it says that the current version of VUDU is 1.2, released on 9-25-12.

^ The version numbers in shown in the channel store don't necessarily match the true current version installed on your box.
You can see the build numbers of all installed channels using this remote sequence: HOMEx3, UPx2, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT

Why a Netflix update and no indicator of SuperHD streams vs HD?

I'm seeing lots of streams marked Super HD, even before the update.
Maybe your ISP doesn't participate?

I'm with Cablevision (Optimum) which is certainly participating.

My Tivo Netflix app clearly indicates SuperHD. Where are you seeing the indication? Do I need to reboot my Roku 2 XS following the app update?

Where are you seeing the indication?

In the description, in place of the plain HD indication.
Look some more. Not all movies are available in Super.

Yeah, my ISP doesn't participate and I still see the Super HD designation.

Thanks--the version of VUDU indicated there matches the one that the channel store has, though the channel store doesn't give3 a build number.
