Downton Abbey Season 4

Postby chumminchic » Sat Apr 06, 2013 12:40 pm

I live in the USA and I was wondering if there is a channel on ROKU that will allow me to watch Downton Abbey Season 4 when it airs in Britain, instead of having to wait until it airs in the USA on PBS.

No, that would violate Roku's policy about circumventing regional restrictions.
Also note that discussing ways to do it here will just get the thread locked.
Usage of VPNs to circumvent establish regional broadcast rules should not be discussed on this forum. Be aware that if you post a question regarding the use of a VPN, OR you post a thread discussing bypassing regional restrictions, your thread will be locked immediately.

I am so sorry. I never even heard of ROKU until this morning when my husband came home with it. He bought it so that we could watch BYU tv. I apologize. Didn't mean to break any rules that I never even knew existed.

IMO, You didn't break any rules, you were just asking if you could watch a current season of a series not in USA yet, but unfortunately Roku is under the same restrictions as everyone else (thanks to the DMCA) to not allow discussions on how to get around region restrictions and such. Now if there was a legal way to do it, then by all means, we'd tell ya.

It's growing popularity has made the issue of spoilers much more apparent, so the producers are seriously considering a simultaneous release for season 4. I think both countries will see it at the same time in September.

I agree, no need to apologize. My response was a head it off at the pass kind of thing before some jumped in with something that would have broken some rules.

My understanding is that the earliest it's available in the US is via Amazon, not via PBS. If I remember correctly, Amazon users got the entire season before PBS aired the entire season. That's the earliest the show is available in the U.S., by my understanding.

I have Amazon Prime. Seasons 1&2 are free.
Currently, season #3 is priced @ $1.99 per episode.

Should be $1.89/episode with Season Pass.
