Re: What can you do with a Roku HD1000 B

You may have found out all of this already, but I have a page with information on lots of PhotoBridge applications and customizations here: http://frequal.com/roku/ I still use my PhotoBridges every day, mostly with VncSix for remotely accessing another computer, or for listening to music. emanresu,...

Usually this means your power supply is dying. You could try a high-powered learning remote, but your best bet is to replace the power supply.

Re: Streaming TS Files to PhotoBridge????

I can pull of ISO/VOB movies stored on my Linux Samba drives using mPlayer. Now I want to stream MPEG TS directly to the Roku. Just open the .ts file with MPlay. It should start playing in full HD glory. Use info twice to switch between video subchannels if there are more than one. Use play twice i...

Actually, it may have been a security update for 10.5.4. Whatever it was mucked everything up... Sounds like a lot of people are having trouble with SMB intereoperability with a variety of devices with recent versions of OS X. :-( Unfortunately I don't see anything that sounds helpful for the Photo...

Are you using the Canon HV20? I picked one up this summer and it's awesome. Yes, I am using a Canon HV20 too. I agree, it is a great camera, and has a reasonable price. In addition to the HD video, I like the fact that it takes pictures in a 16:9 aspect ratio. Those fill out an HD display without a...

HDV camcorder video plays well on the PhotoBridge

There are a number of camcorders now that take HD video in the HDV format. I recently got one (a Canon), and the HDV video plays back very well on the PhotoBridge. (I think BJ Johns had this working a while ago with a Sony HDV camcorder too.) I transfer the video from the camcorder to a network driv...

VncSix to view PDF on a PC

VncSix will let you see a PC screen from your PhotoBridge. You could see a PDF viewer on the PC that way.

Information on VncSix is here:

Still nothing better

I would still buy another PhotoBridge.

I have yet to find anything better for high-bitrate HD content and third-party expansion.

Re: Max displayed resolution of PhotoBridge 1000?

Can you please tell me what is the maximum displayed resolution of a JPEG sent to an HDTV for display? The PB (PhotoBridge) uses your selected resolution for photo display. If you pick 1080i, it will be sent to the display at 1920x1080 interlaced. The PB does not support 1080p resolution. One inter...

If you use VncSix on your HD1000, with a VNC server running on your PC, you'd be able to navigate your computer desktop and select the BAT file to run yourself. More details about VncSix here: http://frequal.com/roku/VncSix/index.html Thanks for mentioning VncSix! If there are any questions about i...

Received my Rev B

I received my $199.99 "B stock" Rev B unit today. Serial number is in the 3200's, very high for a Rev B unit. The case appears unmarred and the feet look new. The manual and paperwork were a little crumpled. It arrived in a Gallery Edition box, with a large sticker saying HD1000 B "Re...

Re: SDesk End Of Life...

I am sorry to announce that I won't be able to maintain SDesk anymore. We are sorry to see you go! Let us know how the DSM-520 works. Is there any chance that you could release the SDesk source code? Those of us remaining here would like to be able to see a good example of a full-screen desktop rep...
