Re: Some suggestions for new PhotoBridge model

- Publish a roadmap, but don't promise the earth, moon and stars! How about implementing all of the features before releasing the product so customers aren't disappointed when features promised in a roadmap fail to come to fruition... (oh, and make sure you don't put pictures of non-existent featur...

What about taking a look at what the more succesful HD network media players have achieved... Roku had a head start and blew it big time. If they don't at least match the current competition in all aspects of connectivity and functionality, they may as well not even bother wasting time on a new mode...

Re: Z500 - beware

Hi all Sorry to butt into this conversation. Before everyone gets carried away, the Z500 has it's fair share of problems.....check out the forums: http://www.z500series.com/forum/ Contains a simlar smattering of people who have sold, destroyed or otherwise disposed of their Z500 in frustration! It ...

Deader than a door nail.

Could that be down to 'Roku Internal Politics'... or R.I.P?

I couldn't hang around any longer, so I got me a Zensonic Z500. Found a suitable door for the Roku HD1000.

So much promise - so little substance in the end.

definitely an interesting feature set. based on a newer Sigma chip. one drawback for a next gen device; no h.264 support. Doh! http://www.z500series.com/specs.php http://www.z500series.com/reviews.php ($429 thru Midiawest, available in July) I doubt that that will remain the case for long... Firmwa...

Does this Z500 do music and pictures as well? As far as video, will it play .ts and/or .wmv? Sounds interesting.... It surely does music and pictures, with a healthy range of file formats supported. It has all the major connection interfaces - including HDMI. As with the Roku Photobridge, the Zenso...

Re: Photobridge - to buy or not to buy

I wouldn't be surprised if any day I'd become the latest member of the dead Roku club. See, now you gone and done it! Now that you've said it.... As I bought it from an authorized retailer a week ago, it'll be under warranty for a year. Hopefully within that time something else would...

Actually the PhotoBridge works perfectly well (for me at least) in its current incarnation, it's just interesting to consider what they might change as they switch manufacturers. As far as the PhotoBridge competition, I don't know of any competitor with HD video output that meets these requirements...

I don't think that you are crazy, but maybe a dreamer 8) . From everything read here Roku has not spent much development lately so only some basic improvements are possible. Improved features that I expect to bring it up to date: 1 - Different power supply 2 - More flash and RAM 3 - Faster CPU 4 - ...

Cool, thanks. dg, I've got a 720p DLP set, but unfortunately it doesn't accept 720p from external sources if you can believe that. So everything has to go in at 1080i... Related question -- when you rip a DVD with, say, DVD Shrink, the resolution is 480 lines yes? Is it stored as either interlaced ...

My thoughts after my Roku experience, and my HD/HDV experience generally are... Take a very big scepticism pill. There was a program about the advances in mobile phone technology on the tellie the other night. The whizz-bang generation of high-rez mobiles was being showcased. The thing that was most...

It is a PITA but it plays pal perfect if you set the video mode before playing it I take it you don't experience the same network behaviour from your Roku that mine delivers with the latest 2.0.36 beta installed? While there has been an SMB performance boost which does indeed finally give smooth sy...

Re: Roku Store now says April 2006 for PB purchase

I posted this on the forum that they host so that they would have the opportunity to respond directly. I don't understand, either they have killed it or it not. I will buy one if they plan to sell them, if not I'll have to find another solution. Many Photobridge owners have tried that ploy over the...

if the roku could pass DTS then i would drop the 360 in a second. :D I'd get a 360 if it had digital video output (DVI, HDMI, etc.). But since it doesn't, and would appear from the teardown reports I've read that there's no physical support inside (i.e. there'd either have to be some add-on or some...

Re: Is Roku planning to "end-of-life" the HD1000?

This thread has sort of become a review of the xbox 360, but I would really like to hear a response from Roku on the original topic - what is the roadmap for this product? When is a real 2.X release going to be available, complete with up-to-date documentation? Will it provide full UPnP support for...
