Suicida,

I have thousands of Greek songs and no problems with tags, for as long as they are UTF-8 encoded, and the device is set to one of the large fonts (those with "16" in the label).

What server software are you using on the PC? Firefly, WMP, other?

Cheers,

Michael

Hostnames should work, at least they work for me. Unless you are running a local DNS, you will need to run the roku to your /etc/hosts file. If you have router with DHCP and DNS, make sure you have the same default suffix on all three. As for make, try setting MAKE = /opt/bin/make in your shell init...

Hm, finally pokwed with perl and cpan on the slug a little. make isnt included in the configuration, which took me some time to realize. So, now the programs working, but I don't see anything on the RoKu. Are there some hooks i can check in the perl script? To configure it, you need to edit the &qu...

According to the current page, this is version 2.4 of the document, which documents version 3.0.44 of the software.

Re: News or Weather for Dummies

Is there any simple way for a NON-PROGRAMMER to get the Soundbridge M1000 to scroll news or weather? All I can find so far are references to PERL and other such programs I know nothing about. It is simple to run a perl script, you don't need to be a programmer. For windows there are three simple st...

Sounds like a neat idea - any way to include some basic instructions for using this for newbies like me? Thanks alot This is a perl script - you will need to install perl on your machine; if you use GNU/Linux or another unix-like OS it is very likely that perl is already on your machine; for window...

Yahoo! Weather for the Soundbridge

In case anyone is interested, here is a simple perl script that displays Yahoo! weather reports on the SB while it is idle. http://www.panix.com/~mpoly/roku/RokuWeather.zip Any bug reports will be appreciated. I've included US, Metric-English and Greek localization files - it is designed to be easy ...

sorry to hijack your thread, but was interested in your problem and the solution, I wondered if there was a similar fix so that I could play mp3s on my soundbridge, from a dvd or a folder on my desktop without having to import them into itunes? I use an Apple Mac and Firefly. Thanks Duff firefly ha...

Thanks a lot, Michael, it works perfectly well! Now I have one last question: can I use 'long names' with spaces when I use junction.exe? I mean, junction.exe is a DOS application, and in DOS spaces are not permitted in names, as far as I know. Thanks again for your help. I'm glad it worked. To use...

Thanks for the reply. I tried to add the external drive content folder as the monitored in WMP 11, but the OK-button is disabled when I try to do so.: Try this: 1) Download and install the junction utility http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/FileAndDisk/Junction.mspx 2) give the command J...

I'd like to create a Greek translation, but it is not possible (for my M1001) as the Greek characters will not display in 2-line mode. Is there a technical limitation, or is it just a lack of a proper single-line font? If it is the latter, I'd be willing to contribute a proper font; I created a numb...

Request: Connect to specific server when exiting standby.

Currently, when pressing POWER to exit stand-by mode, the SB returns to the same state where it was when it went to stand-by. I'm trying to teach an extremely non-technical person how to use the roku; the fact that it may "wake up" in a server other than the preferred one creates a problem...

It's late here, so I'll be brief: Try a 50cm long thick fiber optic cable. I can think of a couple of ways of attaching the remote and the sb at each end. Cosmetics will be tough. Solves the issue of remotes being misplaced (glue the remote to the counter, and bend the fiber as needed). Less that $5...
