Re: Two Rokus in Same Room

There may be a way to do it via network using the Roku app, but other than that you have to keep your devices seperated and be very careful with the IR remote. It's done to help people that damage/lose remotes to make all Rokus (no matter the type) be able to use any remote.

Re: OMG! New Amazon Prime Video UI .Thank you!

Other than the splash screen, I have no idea what you guys are talking about. Do I need 8.1 or something? Amazon constantly changes the app (and since this thread is "old", constantly changing means it is irrelevant). The Amazon app UI (on all devices) sucks. The content is the only reaso...

Re: SelectTV ??

Just wondering if anyone is willing to own up to putting out the money and telling us what it really is like. can't tell much from website. Lot of pics of known shows doesn't mean they have anything or that it's not behind a second paywall. It's exactly this. They are hoping enough people fall for ...

Re: Classic Reel

Most likely the app ("channel"). Apps that play public domain movies often aren't worth the effort of installing them (they'll either perform poorly, have far too many ads, have poor resolution and/or aspect ratio, or other apps do the same movie better).

Re: vikings in 5.1

Delete the app. Reboot/unplug theRoku. Re-install Amazon (a PITA, but unavoidable) Try to play again. Also, note that Vikings is not a "heavy" stereo program. Often it will only play through the center channel, and other times only through the front 3 channels. Full disclaimer Note that I ...

Re: Directv Now $10/month for three months

I know the deal ain't that bad. But honestly, $10 a month for commercial TV is $11 too much...(especially TBS at 2AM; or, God help us, infomercials or "E/I" tv). Seriously, 75% of the above content can (for now until Disney ruins it*) can be seen on Hulu next day (and 99% of the remaining ...

Re: Youtube problems once again!

Youtube is a problem onto itself. Google "updates" the app on various platforms willy-nilly; what works one day fails to work the next. Complain to them (lottsa luck; Google wants you to use the web interface, or at least the mobile one; don't even get me started on how they treat their co...

Re: Wifi Issues?

I'm almost certain the OP means a 4210, not an XS. Even so, if I had a choice I'd NEVER use wifi over an ethernet connection.. Never. NEVER. Could I be more clear? (Yeah, I could be. Never use low band wifi unless absolutely necessary (you only have 3 useable frequencies), and never use high band wi...

Re: vikings in 5.1

Make sure your Roku is set to auto-detect or DD+. I have no problem on my 4210 and Sony AVR with that title on Amazon (other than my Sony hissing on the "ssses", but that's another story...). If your AVR truly does not support DD+, then Dolby Pro II with PCM is almost undectectable in &quo...

Re: "This application does not support sd mode"

Are you using composite video rather than HDMI? If that's the case, obviously the app does not support it (and yes, you can set the 2710 (or 3710 for that matter) to 720 or even 1080p in composite mode, though obviously apps will only stream in 480i). To tell the truth. (and I prefer not to judge ot...

Re: trouble with resume on amazon prime

renojm Thanks.   Guess I have been using the button for and "unsupported function".   But something changed, but it appers to have changed only for Amazon Prime. But, regardless, seems I  probably need to  always use the back button. But I am a bit curious as to what happened  to cause th...

Re: HDCP error with splitter

You "relied upon" a risk that was not supported or endorsed. You were aware (or should have been aware) that something not officially supported was at risk to stop working at any time, without warning. I'm not without sympathy, as situations in the past have happened to me as well. The dif...

Re: Broken Roku Ultra? Why does everything downmix to PCM stereo??

There isn't an app that I'm aware of on the Roku that currently uses DD rather than DD+. The last holdout was HBO, and they switched to DD+ last month. If your receiver supports it, PCM can use Prologic II, which does a good job of converting 2 channel to 5 channel. By the way, you "tested"...

Re: HDCP error with splitter

Using a splitter was never guaranteed to work and was never officially supported; it was a risk you were willing to take. You were lucky it worked in the first place, not "unlucky" that it no longer works.
