I also use DBPowerAmp. Its also FULLY SCRIPTABLE allowing you to control it via VB. scripts which I find incredibly useful.

I leave my NSLU2 mt-daapd server on 24x7x52. Why wake a sleeping computer? I also have a server (Linkstation with firefly) but leaving it on 24/7 does'nt seem right. I know its a lower power option, however its still not good for power consumption/environment plus its just OVERKILL. What could be s...

Although I am more than happy with my M1000, if I had to buy one now I would go for the M1001. Basically ROKU have started to show their true colors by not supporting the M1000 for firmware upgrades i.e. WPA encryption. Believe me, this will be the thin end of the wedge. Before you know it, upgrades...

Wireless G would be nice, however I stream lossless (WMA) over wireless and I have NO drop out problems. This makes me think that at the end of the day, a wireless G implementtaion would be overkill.

Besides, there are other things that I would like to see addressed first.......

I also get the 5minutes of disk activity/slow PC on startup due to the WMConnect scanning the music folders. I get around this by never fully shutting down and always leave the computer in standby mode, or occasionally hibernation. Infact if I know i'm shutting down/rebooting for upgrades etc I will...

I also keep two libraries. When ripped, all music is encoded to WMA Lossless, and then later duplicated into Mp3. I use dBPowerAMP to do my transcoding. Great bit of software, and its fully scriptable, which has allowed me to write a simple VisualBasic/Vb Script program that automatically scans for ...

I looked at the Bose speakers myself, but thought they were over priced and did'nt look that nice. I opted for the Philips MMS321 PC Speakers 2.0 . These look great, have excellent bass quality and are very loud for their size. Infact they far exheeded my expectations. the only slight downside is th...
ismarketing, I think that this is a limitation on the daap protocol rather than a limitation of the soundbridge. To wake up the mac you would need to address it's IP or mac address.
But surely this is not difficult, Simply allow the user to enter the IP/MAC addre...

I have no problems using a wireless connection to my Soundbridge serving up WMA Lossless media. If you are struggling with drop out and poor sigal quality, might I suggest you get hold of a wireless 'G' bridge. Not only will this sort out your drop out problems, but you will also benefit from full W...

Great, So you are saying that the Current M500 has the same mounting bracket as that as the old M1000? If so I can get one of these in the UK.

Cheers

M1000 Mounting bracket in the UK

Hi, I've had an M1000 for the past year and its been superb, only now i'm finally getting around to mounting it properly. However I can only find UK sellers offering a bracket for the new M1001 which I gather is slightly different than that for the original M1000. Can I buy one direct from ROKU in t...

Get a Wireless bridge!

They are cheap (I paid £25 off ebay) and not only do you get WPA but you also get WirelessG as well.
