Re: How do I disable ads on my homescreen?

Install Pi-hole on your network. https://pi-hole.net/

I can't say enough good things about this project.  haven't seen a homescreen ad in like a year.

Re: Intermittent Audio after 8.1 ‘UPGRADE’ v2

Why would you contact TCL about this? How would they know about an issue that - so far as we know - only affects standalone Roku Ultras, and not Roku TVs? Is your TCL TV dropping audio too?

Re: Intermittent Audio after 8.1 ‘UPGRADE’ v2

This also affects my Roku Ultra when connected to a Denon avr-s910w receiver.

Changing the audio output on the Roku from "Auto/Dolby Digital +" to "Stereo" removes the audio drop-outs, but unfortunately means I'm listening to two-channel audio only.

Re: Intermitent audio after 8.1 upgrade

To be clear, I have a 4640. I'm still getting audio cutting out repeatedly when DD is enabled and it's been over a month since this thread began. Can someone from Roku please weigh in? Even just to say "We acknowledge this is a problem and we've got people working on it."? Roku's offshore ...

Watched 2 episodes of Castle Rock on HULU and no loss of audio.

That's because Hulu doesn't stream 5.1 audio on Roku - just stereo.

This is still broken for me on build 4145.

Re: Intermitent audio after 8.1 upgrade

Over in the Reddit thread, Roku is now promising "a build rolling out over the next week or two that we believe will resolve the issue."

I wish Roku's support team would prioritize their own forums over Reddit, but whaddyagonnado.

Re: Intermitent audio after 8.1 upgrade

Roku Support just posted this update to Reddit of all places, not here:

We have an update going out this week that we hope addresses certain HDCP compatibilities.

Re: Intermitent audio after 8.1 upgrade

A temporary but lame workaround that's worked for me has been to set the audio output of my Ultra from "Auto (Dolby D+, DTS)" to the only other choice on the list: "Stereo".

It's a fun trip back in time, and most of my speakers now go unused, but the audio dropouts are gone.

Re: Intermitent audio after 8.1 upgrade

I have this exact same problem with 8.1.  Audio will drop out for a few seconds at a time.  Then come back.  Then out again, then back.  Endlessly throughout an entire movie or TV show. I've seen this happen in both Netflix and Plex.  This is on our primary STB on our primary TV.  And school's out f...

Re: Feature Requests - First Quarter 2018

From January 1, 2018 forward, the royalty rate for MPEG-2 Decoding Products is $0.35 per unit with right of voluntary termination on 30-days written notice. There's still a charge to MPEG-2 decoding. They just lowered the cost. I'm not so sure! Under the MPEG-2 Patent Portfolio License, royalti...

Re: Feature Requests - First Quarter 2018

As of today, MPEG-2 decoding is completely free. http://www.mpegla.com/main/programs/M2/Pages/PatentList.aspx Please consider adding MPEG-2 decoding to your players.  It would make the TabloTV experience (and any other networked TV tuner) so much better if it were possible to skip the whole transcod...

Re: Need feedback on Tablo performance

But yeah, overall I'd say I'm happy with my Tablo.  I have no monthly fees, and nobody in this space is doing anything like what Tablo is doing.  It's been two years.  There's no competition in the world of whole-house OTA DVRs with no monthly fees.  None. The Plex DVR is free, no longer requiring ...

Re: Need feedback on Tablo performance

I love my Tablo.  I was a very early adopter and I'm rocking the 4 tuner model.  I sprung for the lifetime subscription which should be paid off in just four more months! It's connected via ethernet to my router and sends content to five Rokus throughout the house, all on a mix of ethernet/wifi. It'...
