Re: USB hard drive for Roku Ultra

I don't think it is USB 3.0 as then it would seem that they would have to abide by the USB 3.0 power standards.  I think it is USB 2.0 but I don't have any data to back that up.  Anyone know for sure if that is the spec?

Re: USB hard drive for Roku Ultra

I agree with your assessment Tanguero!  The USB port is a must for me, and while it works fine with my usb flash drive, I would really like to have a 2tb or larger drive so I don't have to manage the library of video files I have.  I can survive the lack of file format support (it is annoying though...

Re: USB hard drive for Roku Ultra

I had read the Ultra supplied 500mA as well.  Any word on models of hard drive that work well with the Ultra?

Re: USB hard drive for Roku Ultra

Interesting dgrace.  I wonder if it was because the enclosure was USB 2.0 which has a lower power draw?  I am tempted to just purchase the drive I was looking at ( WD 3TB Elements 3TB Portable External Hard Drive - USB 3.0 - WDBU6Y0030BBK-WESN) and see if it just works.  I might get lucky, and I cou...

Re: USB hard drive for Roku Ultra

I was merely hoping for a non powered drive for aesthetics.  I hate the way too many cables looks but obviously that is secondary to a drive that doesn't work properly.  I have a flash drive now, but that just isn't enough space when playing video. I had heard that USB 2.0 non powered external drive...

USB hard drive for Roku Ultra

I have a Roku Ultra which works great. I want to purchase a slim external 2tb or larger USB hard drive that gets ALL its power from the Rokus USB port. I have tried to find one that utilizes 500mah or less that the Ultra can supply but haven't had much luck. Does anyone have a suggestion of a 2TB or...

Re: Roku 4 won't power up

Running wired. I now notice that it happens less since the update. Id say 60/40 split. Works the majority of the time where before it never worked.

Re: Roku 4 won't power up

Applied the update, I too found that the issue is still happening. Does anyone know where to find the release notes for the build we just applied?

check for a firmware update

I did check and I am still on version 7.0 build 8830 or whatever the build number is. I saw nothing when I tried to manually update it.

Re: Roku 4 won't power up

Turning off the "auto power off" fixed it for me. Although O hope they fix this as it is a great idea for a feature.

Re: Roku 4 won't power up

I too have the "power off automatically" and I am wondering if that is where the issue exists. I am in the same boat as you in that I want the remote to work properly waking it up, but I really like the idea of the Roku being off while it is unused. I get that some would argue "it doe...

Re: Roku 4 won't power up

I would agree with floydiandroid, the unit literally has one issue. Besides the wake up problem I have experienced nothing else wrong with it. I also have a roku 3 and before that a roku 2 and I like the 4 the best out of all of them with the exception of this power on problem. Floydiandroid, do you...

Roku 4 won't power up

I have a Roku 4 and it works fantastic except for 1 glaring issue. If I let it sit without doing anything for a while and then I come back it won't wake up via the remote. The only option is for me to press the remote finder button on top of the unit or power cycle it. I have already reset the remot...

Re: Addition of AVI File Support

I have used a couple including Avidemux but it always includes time and sometimes complications. It would be very cool if AVI's would just play. Even if they didn't officially support it. Just a wish list I suppose, Roku rocks regardless!

Addition of AVI File Support

Roku Media Player works very well, it handles almost everything I have. One shortfall is that officially, Roku Media Player won't play .avi or wmv files natively. You have to jump through some hoops that involve separate media servers, or other apps. There of course is the availability of remuxing b...
