I'm having issues with my M1000 (going to standby, random rebooting) which I'm hoping might somehow be addressed by the firmware update. The MAC address of the unit is 00:10:C6:55:42:A5 which the beta signup page refuses to recognize. Is there a way to obtain this update?

I have the speakers on permanently- I'm using computer speakers which unfortunately do not have a powersave/instant on feature. I've adusted the volume etc. The alarm display comes on- just no noise from the speakers attached to my M500.

I am using Fedora rather than Ubuntu however you might check to see if (in addition to the firefly firewall) if a) iptables is also disabled for testing purposes b) hosts.allow (tcpwrappers) is allowing connections to your daap port. My wasn't and it confused me for a while.... Works great now though

I'm a little confused- are you looking to manipulate firefly or playback music from it? If the former- to what effect? If the latter I think the most popular is Amarok which definitely recognizes and streams from firefly.

I have set the alarms on the M500 and it "works" in the sense that the radio turns on however there is no buzzer or music- only the display alters. Anyone else have a different experience?
