Re: Man this forum update blows!

I think it looks and functions great. I usually only visit this forum on my tablet and it's great that it's actually designed for mobile too, like most modern forums. I haven't tried it on my computer, so I can't state my full opinion on the new style. I can say that on my tablet, it just works bett...

Re: I am using NETFLIX less and less nowadays...

Amazon Prime TV shows are getting a lot better these days, but man I hate the experience. To be specific, it's like Amazon thinks you'll only watch an episode/season/show one time and never start it over again. Say you watch season 1 and later try to start at episode 1. Okay, you watch that and ever...

Re: Roku4 dioes not decode AAC Audio

Have you made sure your audio settings are set to play surround instead of stereo? Plex uses those settings to determine whether it should transcode surround audio to stereo or Direct Play or transcode it to 5.1. In the case of AAC 5.1 or 7.1, it'll probably transcode to AC3 5.1. Roku can't decode o...

Re: Need Roku channel CODE for xfinity Streampix

There is no Xfinity Streampix channel as far as I know. There will soon be a Xfinity Roku channel though that will basically do what your cable box does. I'm sure you'll be able to access Streampix when that's available.

Re: Roku ignoring millions of users with Legacy DD 5.1 Recei

I agree that the Roku should decode more audio codecs, but they do make it clear that it doesn't decode many codecs and that any surround sound audio will have to be passed through. It sucks that you can't use surround sound with your older receiver, but that's just how it is I suppose. Doing at lea...

Re: Roku returns to home screen after a certain amount of ti

I personally think this is a good thing. I never forget to return my Roku to the home screen when I'm not using it, but my parents do all the time. I think this new behavior might extend the life of some Rokus by returning home and allowing the device to go to sleep. Idk, maybe devices could already...

Re: *Channels asking for providers to watch shows

These channels really aren't for cord cutters and are, in my opinion, not really needed. I think the most important channels/services for someone cutting the cord (or otherwise) are Netflix, Amazon Video, Hulu, and Plex. Plex is there only if you're willing to create your own media collection from B...

Re: DTS audio on video file

Plex will transcode the DTS to a compatible format if you have the Roku set to stereo. It might assume you're wanting to pass it through to a receiver or something if you have it set to surround. Since I'm using my TV speakers, I just add an extra AAC stereo track (usually 256 KB/s bit rate) and mak...

Re: Roku Media Player

Yeah I know. I'd never use it over DLNA as long as I have a Plex client. I'm just saying that it seems to use DLNA behind the scenes to send the video to the Roku when on a local network. I could be wrong about that, but I've only noticed the Plex DLNA thing active when I'm streaming from the Plex c...

Re: Roku Media Player

The Plex client isn't a DLNA client exactly, but I think Plex does use DLNA to send the content on a local network. When I play something on the Roku, I'll see something in Task Manager that says something about "Plex DLNA..." that's active, so that's what makes me think that. The OP seems...

I don't know this at all, but maybe changing the audio setting to surround would make it pass through.

Re: Need buying advice

If they only have a 10 MB/s Internet connection, then they probably won't be able to stream 4k. I think Netflix recommends 25 MB/s for 4k. The only way they could probably watch 4k is if they rip 4k Blu-Rays and stream them over the network using something like Plex. I'd probably recommend either th...

Re: Roku Media Player

If you want to stream local media from your PC to the Roku, or any other device, whether in the local network of over the Internet, I'd recommend using Plex . In my opinion, is the best way to stream local media. It has a beautiful UI and gives you ask kind of metadata about the movies/TV shows/epis...

Plex - Lifetime Plex Pass for limited time now

The Lifetime Plex Pass will now only be available for a limited time. There will only be the Monthly and Annual options. I'm not sure how long it will be available, but they mentioned it in this video . If you're a Plex user and you've thought about getting the lifetime pass, now is the time to do i...

Re: Plex overscan issue

Just so you know, you can see what features and fixes are added in new updates (Plex Pass included) here . By the way, while unrelated, the Plex Pass Roku channel has added support for Rotten Tomatoes/Flixster ratings, as well as theme music support for TV shows. I love having the RT ratings. To get...
