When you purchase a movie or TV show from Amazon Prime Video, doesn't the file get downloaded to your computer?

All you really purchase is a license to view it. Amazon does allow downloading with some of their players, but not all titles. It depends on who Amazon licenses it from.

Re: Is it normal for a Roku device to be warm when in idle?

Other than the Roku4, they generally do not go into a deep, low-power sleep. The Roku4 is a bit of an oddball, as it's the first 4K and was a bit power-hungry. It has a power-off option that puts it into deep sleep where it will respond to remote commands (but not network) and occasionally wake up t...

Re: Feature Request: ExFat

Microsoft has several patents on ExFAT, so it would cost money. That is why Synology charges for it. Most likely, only a tiny percentage of users use USB with their Roku's. Adding ExFAT support would not be a simple add-on, but a separate firmware.

Re: Spam Emails from Roku.com about the forum

If you read it, it's about verifying your email is correct due to upcoming changes. Maybe this will allow better spam posting control than the current restrictions that I believe require admins to verify all new users...

Re: Minivan connection

In the settings, try setting the Roku to only 480p or similar low level. Good enough for kids in a car. Hopefully, most of the streaming services will only stream at that level. Also, if your phone can cast to the Roku, some of the services (Netflix, Amazon Prime, and probably others), let you downl...

Sounds like part of the schedule is using a proper local time zone, but another part is using raw GMT.

This has nothing to do with Roku, but Fox Sports. Complain to them.

Re: Roku Ultra remote doing double click?

I think the issue is how it decodes commands. I don't even use a Roku remote, and both a Roku 4 and a current-model Express will sometimes treat a key as double. The remote is universal and also used for TV and other devices with no issues.

Odds are the voice translation is looking for "Weather for us". Maybe try saying "Weather for YOU ESS"?

Re: Dear Roku...

I still don't see why they don't implement what I would assume to be simple restrictions like how many posts you can make a day, or within a certain time frame. You see the same login making hundreds of posts within minutes. That would slow things down considerably.

Re: Humming Noise and Heat from new Roku Stick

It sounds like you may have what is called a "ground loop". Are the TV and Roku plugged into the same wall outlet or power strip? You can also see if you can plug in one or the other's plug (only one, not both) into the outlet the other way (assuming both are not polarized plugs.)

Re: Authenticate cable provider

With most Roku apps, you may need to find the settings in the APP (not the Roku), and there should be a Sign In or similar entry. Sometimes it is obvious, for others, it is under SETTINGS (sometimes shown as a gear icon).. It gives you a letter/number code, and a website link you use to authorize wi...

Re: One remote to two differnt sticks???

The Sticks use WiFi to communicate with their remotes. You have to pair the stick with the remote. If both use the same remote, both will be controlled at the same time. It's not like IR remotes, where you need to be in the same room. The WiFi remote will work from quite a long distance.

Seems as if your TV may be in Demo mode, which is usually used for store displays.
