I'm not going to give you a hard-sell on staying with Roku, but I'm wondering if the unit that just died has a "warranty void if removed" sticker on the bottm (or elsewhere). The reason I'm asking is because Roku has reported here that the new units—those with the sticker—hav...

@ Burkhardi Yet again you appear to attempt to defend the indefensible - posts such as below roll-in on a daily basis on just how troublesome the R1000 is. Daily? Really? I visit several times per day and I wouldn't say R1000 problems roll in daily. Sure, some days there are multiple posts, or one ...

Re: Unacceptable Roku return policy

So I am going to send my unit back and wait for a new one, but I will no longer buy Roku products or recommend them to my friends with Netflix accounts. Roku, you just lost a happy customer. Don't you think you're overreacting just a little? Just because they won't risk sending a new unit before th...

Re: Do I have to broadcast the SSID for M1001 to connect?

I was asking because when I do stop broadcasting the SSID the Soundbridge fails to find a network connection....equally if I hide the SSID whilst streaming it loses its connection and fails to reconnect. Since its currently ggranted access via its mac address I was surprised at this behaviour. If y...

Re: Do I have to broadcast the SSID for M1001 to connect?

Do I have to broadcast the SSID for M1001 to connect? I'd like to hide the SSID for obvious reasons....I use mac address control to allow access but it seems the M1001 wants to see an SSID. Any workarounds?...Am I doing something stupid here? That's perfectly possible :D No, one does not ne...

Yes! Thank you for mentioning this - seems very bad for the environment to not have an off switch. This has actually been mentioned since it was first released. Nothing new here. I just bought a meter that measures how much electricity is used by appliances, it will be interesting to see how much t...

Couldn't you just change the artist to the actual name of the artist instead of "various artists"?

Re: why not use an IPOD Touch + sound dock? = R1000?

There aren't any iPhone/iPod Touch apps that will play from a music server (like iTunes or Firefly) through the iPhone/iPod. Unless I'm misconstruing something, this isn't true... the free Simplify Media does this. (The link opens their Web site in a new tab or window.) Pretty well, too, IMHO, alth...

Re: Date stopped displaying

About a week ago my Soundbridge HomeMusic stopped displaying the date in standby mode, it only displays the time now. I've since tried changing different formats in the config page but nothing seems to make any difference, it only displays the time??? Any suggestions? thanks... Push the up & do...

Re: why not use an IPOD Touch + sound dock? = R1000?

Hi Folks i'm really tempted to get a ROKU Radio, even though the Squeezebox BOOM is out. Main reasons: no need for a PC server (SQueezeCentre) & more importantly, FM TUNER. However, is the R1000 better than an IPOD Touch in a sound dock (with FM Tuner?) Some Ipod applications now allow you to l...

Re: Dead Soundbridge Radio

I am the owner of a Soundbridge Radio that apparently has just died. This is actually the 2nd one (a replacement sent last January 2008 to replace an original that died after approximately one year of service). Please advise RMA number and return address. snip personal info foolishly left for all t...

why not caching the metadata from the musicserver? this would really speed up things. Now it takes about 4sec to load +-500 albums and 30sec to load 4000 songs. (this is using firefly; haven't tried with WMP, but that one should be really slow) It is difficult to cache lists, but you've given me an...

And people wondered why I didn't want the "upgrade" that ties my Soundbridges to Radio Roku. It was clear to me that this ALWAYS happens with ANY company someday. I really want my Soundbridges to continue to function as standalone devices. Now if only I could figure a way for them to stop...

I'd go with either #1 or #4 as well. I like #4, but there's something about it; for some reason I don't feel it'd work—though I'm sure I'm wrong
