Re: roksbox -Streaming Local Media Channel Available for Testing

Actually, you can publish intranet IP addressed to public DNS servers.  But the Let's Encrypt certbot in HTTP mode won't work because Let's Encrypt won't be able to reach the intranet IP.  Instead, it would require doing the DNS based challenge to renew the Let's Encrypt certificate each time.  It l...

Re: Audio and PC Connection to Roku (hearing issues)

If you want to switch it from not using the TV back to using the mini-jack (while still using the TV as a display), that is easy: Go to Settings -> System -> Sound Then under "Choose your output device" change the drop down from Digital Output back to Speakers. If you want it coming out of...

Have you confirmed that any other device is able to join the iPhone hotspot successfully?

Re: Roku stolen. Lost credentials

If your laptop was also stolen, I would recommend contacting your credit card provider and telling them you believe the security of the account number should be considered compromised.  They should at that point be willing to assign you a new card. Sorry about the problems you are having with Roku s...

Re: roksbox -Streaming Local Media Channel Available for Testing

The strong enforcement of authenticating certificate signing is from a trusted certificate authority is a huge improvement.  Other platforms have allowed developers to turn off CA verification and in some cases resulted in applications being released in that insecure state (do a Google search for &q...

Re: Modem/Router Recommendations for Roku Ultra w/HD TV and Xfinity internet connection?

I do not recommend using a modem/router combination.  The first priority of a DOCSIS modem is to give configuration control to the cable provider as the device helps make sure the cable customer only gets the bandwidth throughput they are paying for.  Things you can do with a separate wifi access po...

Re: Removing x rated content from recently added

magicmuffins, returning it probably is the best thing in the short term given your stated criteria.  The immediate issue of those specific channels appearing in the Just Added will fix itself over time as other new channels become available.  However, unless the policy is changed on how the channel ...

Re: Removing x rated content from recently added

If magicmuffins has the rating MA, R and NC-17 turned off, then I would have to agree with him that there should be expectation that the settings be honored by the front of the channel store. Nothing in the parental controls knowledgebase article really help address the situation.  The suggestive ch...

Re: Can the Ultra remote control my receiver?

As a side note, several Samsung TVs like to hide the HDMI-CEC enable option under the name of "Anynet+" so make sure to look for that if you own a Samsung TV.

Re: Can the Ultra remote control my receiver?

Short answer is ... maybe. Controlling the audio receiver is not a feature directly provided by the Roku Ultra remote. However, if you can enable HDMI-CEC on both the TV and the audio receiver then maybe TV volume up and volume down from the Roku Ultra remote will be passed by the TV to the audio re...

Re: OEM distributor - Roku-enabled smart TVs

A TV OEM is providing a final product. Have you tried emailing ipla at microsoft.com to get more clarification?  They will be in a better position to provide answers than members of this forum.   Also, if you are looking for another Roku OEM that has gone through the process, you might want to try t...

Re: YouTube Kids

YouTube's Terms of Service does not allow any other developer to create a YouTube based channel for Roku other than YouTube themselves. There have been third-party YouTube clients for the Roku in the past and Google/YouTube has demanded that the third-party channel be removed. Also, the concept of Y...

Re: Read Tweeter via a Roku Channel? If not, why not?

It is possible to create a Roku channel that uses the Twitter API. However, Twitter's API and the degree of access provided is continuing to evolve over time as explained in this article: https://www.theverge.com/2018/5/16/17362138/twitter-api-third-party-apps-changes-explained In your view, what ex...

Re: twitched is dead

Twitch Interactive is the content owner, but they provide the API for 3rd party apps, and 3rd party apps like Twitchy exist on Apple TV and aren't getting shut down. Only thing I can think of is the Twitched app must have somehow violated their API rules. I think you are right.  More specifically, ...

Re: CBS All Access

It is understandable to try to stick it out with CBS All Access.  I had considered looking into Star Trek Discovery but decided that the pilot and reviews of the show do not indicate it is something that stays true to what Gene Roddenberry was trying to accomplish.  For me Star Trek was a social com...
