Re: Roku 2 XD... time to upgrade?

Sorry OP - trolls gonna troll. No, I just expect too much I guess.  I see this mentality every time I ask people who know almost nothing they try to fall back on this one. I'm sorry Chicken but your comment seems to simply an assertion with no details backing it. Pretty sure I did answer his questi...

Re: Roku 2 XD... time to upgrade?

The Roku 2 XD had 256 MB of RAM which translates to it using older versions of the channels.  It may also be possible some newer channels are not even available to install on the 2 XD.  This device also only supports the h.264 video codec. If you upgrade to the Streaming Stick+ (3810) or Roku Ultra ...

Re: Roku Premiere kills my router

So...looks like I am shopping for a new router. Any objections to the NETGEAR R6700 Nighthawk AC1750 ? I would recommend going for a price point you are willing to re-spend every 2 years.  The Netgear R6700 is currently going for $85 on Amazon and if getting two years for that price is fine with yo...

Re: Bluetooth Headphone Without Muting TV

You didn't specify if you are using a Roku TV or an external Roku streaming device so I am going to give a more generalized answer. If your TV has a mini-jack or RCA plugs for external speakers, you can add the capability there to transmit via bluetooth.  Amazon has a number of bluetooth transceiver...

Re: Roku Premiere kills my router

There are a couple thing you can try as work-arounds. The DIR-655 has a quality of service setting called Wireless MultiMedia (WMM) support that it might be possible is being used by the ROku for the first time.  It may be possible the DIR-655's WMM support has been buggy this entire time and you ne...

Re: Battery Life on Remote

I can't speak to the Roku stick, but from the Ultra remote I have been getting around a month with a pair of Energizer rechargeable 2300 mAh batteries.

I believe this is a standard side-effect from using Wifi Direct with AA batteries.

Re: Thumbnails When FF

I am going to break your question into two parts: (1) Does Roku offer the feature in general? (2) Does Roku offer the feature specifically for the PS Vue channel? For question #1, the answer is *yes*.  The Roku OS API has offered channel authors the ability to include this in their channel for a lon...

Re: roksbox -Streaming Local Media Channel Available for Testing

I don't think roksbox is being maintained anymore. I haven't been able to login to the Roksbox/Wilddtech website for several months and attempting to use the "Forgot your password?" option just returns a SMTP connect() failed error. The author of Roksbox, WilDD, has not been active in the ...

Re: PS Vue is only channel not playing - error code

Doesn't the Roku use the DNS from the local network? If so, perhaps recording it, changing it to Google DNS, OpenDNS, or some other might resolve it. If not, it could be put back to what was there before. That would at least eliminate that question (unless you're certain otherwise) and perhaps reso...

NYT article on Locast.org

Locast is a broadcast TV transmission service that is available as a Roku channel (along with other platforms).  It also helps address a request that had come up frequently on the forums asking for being able to connect an antenna to Roku.  Previously the response would usually be to either buy a Ro...

Re: roku media player support Cyrillic?

I'm not sure having a complete Unicode v11 font set of 137,000 characters would be the best use of resources.  However, I have to agree that limiting support to use latin characters is disappointing.  Given that Google, Red Hat and the GNU project have released more complete font sets under licensin...

Re: MKV Audio Issue Please Help

Can you check which audio codec is being used in the MKV? In VLC this can be found while the video is loaded under Tools -> Codec Information (or pressing control-J) In HandBrake it can be found after loading the video under the Summary tab. You can find the list of supported Codecs for the specific...

Re: Please enable spambot countermeasures/reCaptcha!

The phpBB forum at cleantalk.org seems to be oddly free of spam. I have never used their product but it sounds like it is designed to also take care of grunt work one-off posters.  The lack of creativity in word choice in the latest spam wave seems to suggest to me that a Bayesian filter should be e...

Re: Please enable spambot countermeasures/reCaptcha!

I thought previous to phpBB 3.2 that PHP 7.1 wasn't supported.  Now that PHP 5 is beyond end of life, they really should be migrating everything to the latest version.

Please enable spambot countermeasures/reCaptcha!

I believe this forum would benefit greatly from the reCaptcha plugin that ships with phpBB 3.2.
