Re: DO I REALLY NEED A ROKU 4....i have a Roku 3 and very ha

If you are very happy with the Roku 3 then you should probably stick with the Roku 3. The Roku 4 is the first time they have attempted to jump to supporting ultra high definition and in doing so may have produced a product which isn't as well polished as the Roku 3 has become. Reason you might consi...

Re: 7.0 firmware broke my Roku 2 XS

Model: 3100X - Roku 2 XS Software version: version 7.0 - build 9044 Roku will frequently go unresponsive until power cycled if left sitting for 24 hours or right after playing a Netflix episode. Usually the front LED will still blink in response to the bluetooth remote but the home button doesn't ac...

Re: New Apple TV Remote is Fragile

Hello: I don't have an Apple TV nor a modern iPhone/iPad but in theory would this work? Play the game on the iphone while mirroring to the TV? There is a chance video and playback response may be slow but if performance is adequate, at least in theory, this should work. Can anyone from the forum re...

Re: New Apple TV Remote is Fragile

I got a chance to play with the new Apple TV and the remote feels like it wouldn't hold up under regular gaming abuse. Not only was it frustrating to use with Rayman Adventures but it felt like to complete the game would involve exceeding the controller "click" lifespan. And I thought the ...

Re: roku 4 fan issues

Fans are pretty standard in electronics but the smaller they are the louder and more prone to failure. If I had an extra $130 I'd buy one just to mod a massive passive heatsink onto, but I don't. I get the feeling that a massive heatsink would have increased the cost of the Roku 4 and probably not ...

Re: roku 4 fan issues

I wouldn't considered just adding an always on fan to indicate a design flaw. However, there appears to be no vents on the top of the Roku 4 so my guess is that the fan is designed to blow out the side of an unit. Given the Roku 4 is a little over 20mm in height, then it might the fan is less than 2...

Re: New NBC Roku Channel

NBC is one of the forces behind Hulu. I'm wondering why they didn't offer this as an add-on to Hulu. I'm not complaining, or wishing they did, it's just that I figured they might use a resource they're already in with. NBC is not really a force behind Hulu. When Comcast purchased NBC/Universal they...

Re: Hulu trying an ad free tier

Considering Hulu's strange application region locking and horrible customer support, I doubt an ad-free tier would be enough to make me waste money on them. I can use Netflix (USA region) and Amazon Prime (USA region) from my office. But Hulu produces a warning that I am coming from a non-USA IP or ...

Re: Comcast better get a clue fast!

This is going to be a huge deal for Comcast customers (including the soon to be absorbed TW customers)! There is a 42 page thread on Comcast's own forums going back to 2011 discussing the inability to activate the Roku HBO GO channel for Comcast subscribers [1]. By looking at http://www.hbogo.com/ac...

Re: Roku Remote for Google Chrome

Thank you for everyone that is interested in this project. Currently, the type of functionality we would like to have is not possible. The example web pages that have been created so far operate blind and do not get any feedback from the Roku. To address this, the Roku web server needs to support so...

Re: Remote ECP Comments

Re-bump. I have updated my Roku to version 2.9 (build 1553) and still am not getting any CORS support from the Roku. I think it might be possible that our request is too vague. Currently, the Roku returns HTTP headers of: HTTP/1.1 200 OK Content-Length: 0 Server: Roku UPnP/1.0 MiniUPnPd/1.4 What we ...

Re: Roku Won't Join WiFi Without the Remote

There are several things that Roku could do to greatly improve the customer experience regarding Wifi and remote control use of the Roku: 1) Keep more than one Wifi configuration profile and automatically use any Wifi with a matching SSID in any of the saved profiles. For example, the Nintendo Wii k...

Re: Remote ECP Comments

Considering that Roku is still an IPv4 only device, it seems realistic to ask the user to look-up the address that is assigned to it via the Settings menu and then provide it the remote control application. Hence, lack of access to SSDP is currently is not much of an issue. Even if Roku where to sup...

Re: Roku Remote for Google Chrome

I have updated the web page:
- Buttons can optionally be resized
- Optional Search web keyboard is provided (may help with tablet use)

The web page still uses AJAX which means that it still only works with Webkit based browsers such as Google Chrome.
