I had the same problem, and made the rounds of both this forum and the Apple one to no avail.

It doesn't appear solveable.

So I've switched to an XBox 360 with Rivet, and my HD1000s are now a thing of the past (actually I still have them but am not using them).

Here's the response I got on the Apple forums. Is it even possible to do this on a Roku? If so, what file do I edit? Grrrr, Apple!!! They are using Samba 3.10, which isn't exactly current, and has this known issue with regard to Linux. See the dismissive comment on https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bu...

It's 10.5.4 that did this. Freaking Apple did something with the SMB security settings and now we're hosed...A windows computer connects fine though so something must not be quite standard in Roku's implementation of SMB... I see that Apple has released pre-release builds of 10.5.5 to developers. M...

Hmmm....I'm having the same issues since I went on vacation and came back. Could it be related to an OS update (I'm running Tiger too)? I haven't been able to get Leopard to work with the PB, so I'm still running Tiger, but it's been fine up until now. Perhaps it's time to roll back to 10.4.10? I s...

[crickets chirping]

In that case, anyone want to suggest an alternative device, since this HD1000 that I just had the power supply repaired on is now a useless chunk of garbage since it won't talk to my Macs?

OSX: "User/Pass OK but read permission denied"

Please help. All of a sudden, I'm getting this message (User/Pass OK but read permission denied) when I try to access the share I've been using on my OSX Mac for, well, since they still made HD1000s. I haven't deliberately changed anything. The only thing I can think of is that I might have installe...

Its got nice potential from a development perspective, but no use unfortunately for HD playback. Its video output is basically composite - no digital audio output either. But it is nice to see boxes like this making an appearance, and maybe a big brother to this could be (as you say) a worthy succe...

Neuros OSD?

Anyone seen the Neuros OSD yet? No HD as far as I can tell (I'm not sure what that connector is) but it could eventually become a worthy successor:

Wouldn't acquire an IP address (wired), how I fixed it

Just in case this is useful to someone else... I have a Rev A HD1000, and recently bought a used Rev B as well. We have DSL with a router that assigns IP addresses via DHCP, and we use wired ethernet for the Roku due to speed so wireless issues are irrelevant. The Rev B wouldn't acquire an IP addres...

Check out the new Netgear unit. Here's a link to the spec sheet. http://www.netgear.com/upload/product/eva8000/enus_ds_eva8000_11dec06.pdf The unit will release in about 6 weeks and sell for $349. It should be available at both BB and CC among others. If it's actually Windows-only, then it's of no ...

More features: Discrete IR commands available like other Roku products. The PhotoBridge does have discrete IR commands. I know, I just said it in my post. Just wanted to re-iterate it so that such an underrated and important feature is not missed off, like so many other manufacturers products. As a...

I should add... I'm happy with the Harmony overall, but the Roku is worse than the other stuff I have at taking signals. This wasn't a problem with the Pronto because it's so bright, but we've got a long living room and with the Harmony I really have to point it at the Roku at the correct angle to g...
