Re: What's the killer channel?

I think the best chance for a killer channel will be from the Netflix side, not the Roku side. Netflix and Amazon are the only ones with enough clout with the major studios that could swing deals that would make content available on streaming. We're already seeing this with more recent episodes beco...

Re: NBA Game Time on Roku (New Channel)

Considering it's live on the Roku web page and the NBA playoffs start tomorrow, it's odd that there has been no announcement from Roku. Usually you see an e-mail to registered users, a PR announcement from Roku and the partner, and a blurb here on the forums. If the stats are like gametracker on Yah...

Re: 100 channels?

On the content side, I think the sands are shifting much faster than anyone can anticipate. Hulu started as an experiment, grew to having national TV ads and is now re-trenching their business model (whose content? subscriptions?). The adoption of boxes like the Roku, the added streaming to the game...

Re: 10 Beta Channels

Just curious, it took forever to get the Big10 Network on DirectTV. Two questions, #1, are you having to pay the Big10 conference any rights fees? and #2, are they even aware that their channel is being distributed? Reason I ask is that I'd love to see the ACC content on line, but given your goal o...

Re: A Couple New Channels with More to Come

If you make changes, do the private channels update automatically by re-synching them by going into the channel store? I think your answer is 5 posts up. Missed that, tuned after the first paragraph on CNET. But will it update the new audio podcast features as well, or is that just content to the R...

Re: A Couple New Channels with More to Come

I've been playing with them all. It's like Christmas, all the new toys to play with. The only snag I've hit is the load times for the NBC shows, I believe there is an earlier comment concerning the lag in moving between the icons.

Re: Ten New Beta Channels

Yeah but you had to spend a lot of time in front of a computer to find the podcasts you wanted to add. I am just not interested in wading through content or spending that much time in front of my computer watching things that are supposed to be on my TV. robertm Excellent point! The NBC channel pro...

Re: Upon set up channel, how much to pay Roku for using it?

Poeple have not realised how good Rokus' business model is. Hardware sales are not a sustainable business model since Roku-type capability is built into TV's and pretty much all new BD DVD players now. The best that they can hope for is to get a share of a dwindling legacy market for those who have...

I hadn't read the CES coverage of this device and was intrigued by yesterday's stories. But, on further review, I've read that it has to be plugged in and there is no battery. So even though it looks intriguing and has the right price point, I'll probably pass on it. I don't understand having wi-fi...
