Some food for thought

An interesting point to the law passed in favor of RIAA was wording as to "perfect digital copy". I think people missed the boat on it, because we all know, Internet streaming is not a perfect digital copy. Another point that has always irked me is, The RIAA is allowed to collect these roy...

rcp.pm

James Bouressa wrote a perl class for RCP over telnet.
This was used in the rss2roku project.

I have a copy of it here with some minor additions

Re: I'm not dead, yet!

rss2roku guy here. Sorry for dropping off the planet, my mail/web server has croaked, and it's going to be a little while before I can get it squared away. If someone wants the source, PM me your email addr and I will give you the whole works. popechunk, Your scripts gave me the groundwork to build...

I think I answered your question in another thread. See my prior post and links to my tools. The perl tool msgpostsb does just what you are looking for. However the sbsh and the right sketch commands would do the same. sketch -c clear (if you need this) sketch -c font ## sketch -c text $x $y exit Th...

When using...

SBSH

Perhaps this may help. I have some cheesy c program I wrote to act as a shell. It was derived from the socket/netio tool then I added some functionality so it acts like a shell with some environment ehancements. These shells are called from speechd which is fed from a procmail script. Basically I se...

The N35 can play DVD's in ISO format. I have never tried VOB's. What I like is the screen zooming modes which switch from Basic to Full Screen to Pan & Scan. Lets you rapidly switch to whichever mode suits your tv. Also, upon immediate hookup (via analog connections) I heard an improvement in au...

The N-35 is not as seamless because there is a default account required on the SMB server. You can not set up user / password like the Roku. In addition the first menu allows a choice of NDAS (local and on network) PC (SMB) USB (locally attached) PLAYLIST ( a static directory on the local ndas hard ...

All of the aboive is true, yet I've not hit any of these issues (others may have) Perhaps it's my own use.

I still find it hard to recommend getting another unit of something that is discontinued and only supported by the gracious work of a small community.

I replaced one of mine with a Rhapsody N-35. I also picked up the Zensonic Z500. I'm pretty happy with both. I find myself using the N-35 the most. What I miss is the ability to write my own programs and tools. However, everything else does work better. The rhapsody sounded better the moment I insta...

-NSLU2 Unslung (V2.3R63-uNSLUng-6.8-beta) to a 512mb Sony Micro Flash drive -MP3 library is on a Maxtor 80gb IDE HDD in a Cintre ZDisk USB case formatted NTFS and was recently defragged and scanned for errors. Given that the Linksys firmware (Unslung or not) is pretty poor with NTFS, I wonder wheth...
