Re: Update Text Above Channel Poster in Side-Loaded App?

Occasionally when I update the title of an app, or replace the previously sideloaded app with a new one, the title on the home screen doesn't change until I return to the home screen and launch it by actually selecting the icon with the remote (rather than using curl or an IDE plugin or what-have-yo...

Registry clearing utility

I slapped together a simple registry clearing utility today which lists all the registry sections for whichever developer ID it's compiled under, then allows the user to remove one or some or all of them via a dialog node. It doesn't require any debug console use or anything like that; the idea is t...

Anyone have a HDMI stick 3500X or a Roku TV 5303X?

As I have mentioned in previous posts, I'm having an ongoing problem where Roku's certification team is reporting my app crashing on one or both of these devices (depending on the particular email, they sometimes mention one or the other and sometimes mention both). Neither I nor a Roku engineer who...

Re: Star button not working when video is playing...

Are you talking about the default behavior of the Roku Options overlay? It should override the app-specific behavior of the options/star button when and only when the Video node is in focus. Edit: you can see some description of this behavior here . OnKeyEvent() is not fired when the Video node is i...

Re: Issues reproducing hardware-specific bug/crash

I'm not sure about the Roku engineer who couldn't repro the bug (all he said, more or less, was that he tried and failed to reproduce it), but we're running 8.0 on our 3500X, and I believe the tester said the crash was happening on 8.0 and 8.1.

Out of curiosity, what happens when you try to telnet into that ip address on port 8085?

Re: Development Application Installer not working on company network

What part of it isn't working? Can you not connect to the Roku device at all, or is the problem related to the actual uploading or installation of the dev channel?

You're not assuming the device's IP address is the same on your home and work network, right?

Issues reproducing hardware-specific bug/crash

In our initial certification results Roku reported a bug that caused a crash when selecting any content from the main screen/grid on an HDMI stick 3500X (I've posted about this before on here). I went out and bought a 3500X off Craigslist and couldn't reproduce the crash. I emailed Roku about it, an...

Re: Schedule App Update After Approval

Sorry to double post but I wanted to let you know—I just noticed/remembered that when submitting your app/update, there is a "Key Dates" box on the screen that appears upon pressing Submit for Publishing. You can write the date you want the app published in this field. The description prov...

Re: Best practices re: number of user bookmarks to save

Thanks, I guess it was kind of a silly question—I just was surprised to learn about the significant hardware differences when I got my initial cert results back, so I wanted to make sure I wasn't overlooking a storage question that would present an impediment to my app working well.

Best practices re: number of user bookmarks to save

When storing a new bookmark so that a user can resume a video they have left half watched, I've written a function which checks whether the user has reached an arbitrary maximum number of bookmarks and, if so, deletes the oldest bookmark before saving the new one, so as to not waste huge amounts of ...

Re: User Authentication

Take this with a heaping spoonful of salt because I haven't actually done any work with user authentication. But assuming the user has registered elsewhere (say on your website) and set up a username and password, I guess maybe you could prompt them for their info with a Keyboard node, then use the ...

I was drawn here by your hilariously titled `objfun = no fun`. Are you on the slack group? It's got about 60 people and a some of roku's engineers roku regularly chime in. https://join. slack .com/t/rokudevelopers/shared_invite/enQtMzU5Njc5ODM5MzAyLWE2MTIxMWQ5Nzg0Y2E3ODgzYTk4NmQxMDg2YjRjYjdiMzM5ZDU...

Re: Roku Ad Framework config errors on startup

It does seem to me like this may be related to something internal on Roku's end. These errors only started showing up recently, like within the past week or so, and I hadn't changed any of my RAF code or calls when they started showing up seemingly out of nowhere.
