Re: ROKU 4 AND ROKU ULTRA REMOTE PROBLEMS

roku still has problems where remote stops working for about 30-45 seconds then it starts to work again. same problem on both roku4 and roku ultra  I used to have this issue a lot about a year ago with my Roku 3.  It usually would surface when doing a lot of rewinding or fast forwarding.  I us...

Premiere.  Life is too short for old tech.  The SOC in the Roku 2 has been around for years now.

Fire TV is best bang for buck.  Nvidia Shield is nice, but expensive unless you plan on using the gaming features.

Re: Roku 4 noise and mounting solution

Maybe I'm losing my hearing, but I don't hear any fan on my 4. I keep reminding myself to listen to it closely, but I always seem to forget when I go to bed.  I never even knew it was supposed to have a fan. Loss of frequency sensitivity with age might be a factor. Check here, i max out at ~...

Is that why they make whining noises? :P

Yeah, I noticed that after the post.  Pun not intended.

Re: Roku 4 noise and mounting solution

Seriously, if you want silent operation, return the thing and buy the newer fanless unit.  Any other solution seems silly.

Roku 4 was a bad design.  The fans know it, and Roku knows it.

There are specs on the product pages.  Either scroll to the bottom or there's a "Specs" link in the band just below the product photo.

Not really.  No mention of CPU, ram, storage, what video codec, etc...

Re: New Roku Lineup (Confirmed no fans!)

I really wish they would list specs like every other streaming box maker.  Anyway, has anyone read anywhere if there will play x265 files.  And if so, which models? Also, I can't believe the $80 Premier only includes a "line of site" remote.  Roku is so frugal with bang for buck compared t...

Re: Five New Roku Models Leak — Three with 4K and Two with HDR

I have not seen HDR, so I can't comment on that.  But I do have a 4k tv, and like others here, I cannot tell the difference between 1080p and 4k.  Even sitting only about 6 feet from the tv, it is near impossible to tell the difference. I replaced a perfectly good 1080p set with the 4k set, and I ha...

Re: Roku 4 - No "Fast HD optimized processor"

One thing to know about Roku players is they are not "tech.spec driven" - instead they are "marketing driven". That's marketing drivel you are reading.  Yep, unlike most of the other streaming boxes, Roku doesn't list specs.  I suspect it is because it would show how much...

Kind of, in the system settings.  But I've noticed part of the sd card shows used even if storage on the box is still free.

Re: Roku Hints at Fall Device Refresh with New FCC Filings

Hi Clocks, So if you hit the back button, or rewind, it doesn't have to re-buffer the video? On my new stick, Netflix seems a bit better, but if I miss something in Amazon and hit rewind, it has to rebuffer the video, rather than just having it in cache. It seems like a streaming device should be a...

Re: Roku Hints at Fall Device Refresh with New FCC Filings

Hey Clocks, I do not believe RAM is your problem .... I do not see any buffering on Amazon nor Hulu even on my LT and HD ( 2400/2500) and they have half the RAM of say the Roku 3 or the new stick So if you hit the back button, or rewind, it doesn't have to re-buffer the video? On my new stick, Netf...
