What I do not understand is, that ROKU does not offer spare parts. That is pure money for them...

Seems strange to me too.

So... did you have success with your experiment with KEMO M032 modules? Were you able to decipher the pinout of the roku amp board?

r1000: end of story

I decided to remove the amp board from my faulty front speaker module, to enable a better visual inspection, and perhaps allow some scope work. Unfortunately, I damaged the board in two ways: cracked an inductor, let smoke out of a capacitor. So I think at this point it may not be worth trying to fi...

Re: r1000 front module disassembly: pictures, and a question

I finally got around to taking some more pictures of my troublesome R1000. You can see them here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/aaronferrucci/collections/72157614978478343/ (There are two sets, one for the subwoofer/PSU disassembly, and the new one for the front module disassembly.) So, I did some b...

Definitely - I hope to find some time to crack it open and take some photos in the next few days.

Hi! My Roku is dead too http://forums.rokulabs.com/viewtopic.php?t=19396 Support asks to send it back for replacing. But I live in Russia and post service will be cost too much, more than Radio itself. I've tested voltage No Load:- +9.18V +18.87V With load (plugged into front unit) +5.45 - 5.55 +18...

Aaron, thats exactly what it says. If the sound is OK using the headphone jack the player/streaming module is OK. The crackling is independant from using the internal or your external PSU, so I would say the PSU is OK, too. So in my view the crackling is definitely caused by one or more of the thre...

Aaron, have you listened on the headphone jack? It would be interesting to know if the cracks also appear when using the headphone jack. Maybe the crackling is not caused by the amps but by the electronics of the streamer/player. DJans, when I plug headphones in, the crackling sounds vanish - the s...

Follow-up - I did try the experiment of powering the r1000 solely from my bench supply. Result: continued crackling. So, I think that proves the crackling isn't the fault of the power supply. Therefore I reassembled the subwoofer/power supply module. The next step is to open the front module and see...

Thanks for the suggestions! I was going to try running the r1000 off of my dual bench supply (only goes to 18V, but I figure that should work fine), but unfortunately, what was a very consistent crackling has turned into a very intermittent popping. Makes it tough to troubleshoot! I will try it out ...

r1000 disassembly notes, and a question

I spent some time today disassembling my r1000 and replacing capacitors. The good news: after replacing an obviously damaged capacitor (C906, 220uF 35V), the r1000 shows signs of life. See photos here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/aaronferrucci/sets/72157614593223550/ The bad news: while on, the r10...

r1000 from ebay, dead

Well, I bought a R1000 on ebay - supposedly in working condition. When it arrived, it wouldn't power up. Sounds like the infamous power supply problem. The seller agreed to let me have the R1000 for half price, so now I have a project. I'm confident I can remove and replace whatever components are r...
