RE: False Alarm

Matt: Glad you were able to find the solution to your problem.

I'm hopeful that, with an appropriate PSU, the SB will run without problems for a very long time. I love what SB + Pandora have done for my home!

RE: experiencing poor sound quality with pandora...

You don't give much information other than the fact that you have poor sound quality, so let's walk through the set up to make sure that was done properly. First, make sure that the SoundBridge's analog output is connected to an auxillary channel, or a tape channel of your stereo. Do NOT try connect...

RE: Connecting to internet radio

I'm no expert, but I can offer the advice that I don't even mess with the built-in radio features on Roku. I found that they're unstable, partly because the broadcasters seem to change their URLs on a weekly basis, and with no warning, rendering the presets useless. Instead, I use Jamcast (http://ww...

RE: Better Business Bureau complaint form

@ n1djs: I can understand your frustration at having been sold an obsoleted device AFTER it had been obsoleted. However, there's lots of support on this forum, with plenty of dedicated experts (e.g., alanmc, burkhardi, etc.) available to help you through most any problem. In fact, the support that y...

RE: Can't connect to Firefly server with ROKU M1001

Although it's not really a solution to your problem of getting Firefly to work with your SoundBridge, I -will- suggest that you try a different server - specifically, Jamcast (available for free from http://www.sdstechnologies.com/). It's very reliable, plays ALL audio types on a SoundBridge (includ...

RE: Help!! - Soundbridge not working anymore...

I am not an expert on SoundBridge vagaries, and certain real experts will probably slap me for responding (cough*alanmc*cough), but I can tell you that I had a very similar experience when I "upgraded" my OS from XP to Vista. I use Jamcast to play Pandora on my SoundBridge, and to do so re...

RE: Observations on SB PSU

OK, I got the Mean Well 5-volt 4-ampere PSU from Mouser: Mouser P/N: 709-GS25U05-P1J Mean Well P/N: GS25U05-P1J. Mouser shipped for free (here in the US), so I paid a total of ~ US$18 for the unit. The original PSU from Roku is a 5-volt 1.5-ampere unit. Before changing over to the new PSU, I used a ...

Observations on SB PSU

Alan - Thanks for the quick reply, and all the information! Since you answered my primary concerns, I went ahead and ordered the Mean Well PSU. The operational specs between the Mean Well and the Phihong supplies are virtually identical. Furthermore, Mean Well even lists a mean-time between failure ...

Observations on SB PSU

Alan - I have seen some of the more experienced posters on here advocate even more current capability than 3 A. On the Mouser site, there's PSU that's a 4-A device: http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Mean-Well/GS25U05-P1J/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMtpkqKkT5w3utB2CC8itqdQzRS4kK7BpvY%3d Since it's essentially the...

Here's a little experiment for you... With your SB in standby, place your forearm against the PSU (hands & fingers are less sensitive to temperature). If you have a temperature probe, use that instead. Compare the result to some other PSU's you have. Runs hot doesn't it? Measured with a thermoc...

@ Phorrest If you bothered to use the Search function, you would have found: ... Why bother, when I have such friendly experts at my disposal? Actually, I did do a search, but for the wrong thing: "impedance." I read somewhere that a lot of soundcards are low impedance (like 8Ω)...

PS - Bregent: Thanks for the link - it was very useful. 100 KΩ! Which, by the way, supports S80_UK's comments about the SB being a voltage source. The SoundBridge is also, sad to say, not a very good audio source, so maybe I'm expecting too much... I -will- try tonight porting my SB into one of t...

...The SoundBridge is a voltage source. That being the case, a lower output impedance will give a higher voltage into a given load, not a lower one as you suggest. It would be a low input impedance that would reduce an input level from a higher impedance output... So, what you're saying is that the...

Analog-output impedance of the SoundBridge M1001

Does anyone know what the impedance of the analog output from an M1001 is? My stereo (a twenty-year-old high-end JVC) has 47 KΩ in the input stage. The only analog input in which my SoundBridge works is the Phono channel (2.5 mV/47 KΩ). My stereo doesn't have an AUX input; the other inputs (CD...

Play Pandora on your SB - get Jamcast!!

Hi All: I just wanted to give a STRONG suggestion to SB users to try Jamcast as a server! I found out about Jamcast in a thread on this forum concerning playing Pandora on the SB. Wanting to do just that, I downloaded a free copy (from http://www.sdstechnologies.com/), and it works perfectly. Setup ...
