Re: BrS: comparing 2 objects for identity?

Finding this post 4 years later, I was looking for a way to compare arrays as well. I came up with what I feel is a pretty decent hack: convert the arrays to strings and then compare them. When you want to do this: if m.top.array = newArray Do this instead: if FormatJSON(m.top.array) = FormatJSON(ne...

Re: Legacy SDK Deprecation Question

Thanks @RokuTomC - since my current channel isn't unstable currently, I suppose I can breathe a sigh of relief and stop stressing about the holiday deadline and take my time making sure I get the new channel right.

Legacy SDK Deprecation Question

I wondered if someone could clarify/confirm one thing for me that I found on the Roku Blog post about the Legacy SDK being deprecated:  https://blog.roku.com/developer/2017/02/01/legacy-sdk My current channel is using a lot of the Legacy SDK. I'm pushing really hard to get a new channel developed, b...

Re: Eclipse Error When Sideloading

For anyone finding this later, like me, I had the same problem. It started after I experienced a power bump that reset my computer.

Solution: I found that the reset erased the selected files on the BrightScript Application Deployment box. Once I checked the right files, all worked again.

Re: Passing a variable out of a function

I figured it out, thanks for your help! For anyone who finds this later, here's some sample code (because everything's better with a sample ): Disclaimer: This is has been simplified for posting here and is not guaranteed to run as-is, but should give you the general idea of how to do things. l...

Re: Passing a variable out of a function

Thanks for your reply.

I think what you're recommending make sense... can you point me to some sample code that shows this process working?

Re: Dynamically creating contentNodes for LabelList

Have you had any success figuring this out? I think I'm running into a similar issue and was hoping for any insight you can share.

Re: Self-Managed Content Availability To Subscribers

Yes, this happens all day long in pretty much every app or channel. What you need first is an API to your website/database. It's essentially a page that accepts user accounts and returns the list of albums/movies, etc that they have access to in a program-legible format (I'd recommend JSON as your f...

Passing a variable out of a function

I'm making an API call to gather associative arrays of content to display in my channel. I'm doing all this through a Task, but I'm running into trouble getting the variables back to the Main script for use. In a nutshell, I have this function called from the Init of the navigation.brs file like so:...
