All done. Upgraded using the QNAP Finder tool. I now have a TwonkyMedia Server as well as an iTunes server. Interestingly, the iTunes server still shows the wrong track length, but the TwonkyMedia server gets it right.

There you go.

Happy Christmas!

Hmm... where have I been? Nowhere really - hanging out with my family more, I think! I have discovered that there's a big jump in firmware available for my QNAP TS109 - has anyone else on this board upgraded to v3.1? How should it be done? There is an item in their support/downloads that suggested t...

Track Length wrong

Hey folks - long time no see  I just noticed a problem with my gorgeous M2000 - it is displaying track length longer than the actual length. e.g. in iTunes, it reports 4:02, but on the Roku it shows as 9:29. What gives!? I am using a QNAP NAS device as the server for the SoundBridge - in...

Hi zedug, Sorry, I have no idea how to write an app for a slug... The theory is fairly straightforward though: 1. keep a record of what has been playing on the slug (or other NAS) 2. synchronise this with a PC on a regular basis - prolly by running a process on the PC on startup or at a regular/sche...

I've bought a QNAP TS-109 (II). Well, I've placed the order. Not sure how long it will take to come. I decided not to go for the larger 2 drive device in the end. The reason was mostly money. I've been thinking about getting a SqueezeBox Boom for the kitchen, and the QNAP makes it easy to install th...

When I mentioned iTunes as a server, it was because I saw that the QNAP device webpage said that it contained an iTunes server - alanmc: is that how you are using it?

Incidentally, does the QNAP have internal disk(s)?

Cheers.

Hey thanks everyone for the useful replies. The NSLU2 is very appealing, but purely for aesthetics, I'd prefer not to have any drives hanging off it... The tech aspect is kinda interesting as a project / challenge, but with #2 baby on the way, I'm not sure how much time I'm gonna get... :( The QNAP ...

Hurrah :) Anyway, if you are interested in the Roku iTunes Track Counter (or RIC for short), then, go here: http://www.over2u.net/foghorn/RokuTrackCounter.html And in case you wondered, it works with iTunes v8 :P Have ...

Low-power NAS solution?

Hey folks, Just wondering if anyone has created a NAS solution using portable USB drives that get their power from the USB? What I want is a small, quiet, low-power NAS device that I can use to: a) be my normal network drive b) serve my iTunes library Is FireFly the best media server for NAS - I'm g...

Hi Jasn, I wrote RiC (the Roku iTunes Counter), and still use it on a daily basis... I do confess that my website is down though - actually, thank you for bringing this to my attention, as I hadn't realised it!! I have put in a support request with my hosting company to find out why this is. As soon...

Restart SoundBridge?

Hey Thorsten, Not sure if this has been asked or answered - couldn't find it after a quick search... Is it possible to access the "Restart Soundbridge" menu from VisualMR at all? My SB seems to lose connection to my iTunes Server (fairly regularly, it would seem), and re-starting the SB us...

Excellent story :) I am currently happy with my M2000 playing MP3s encoded at 192kbps, playing through the SB's internal DAC to my Yamaha DSP-AX620 and some rather old Mission Cyrus speakers. I could start going the same route as you did, mmcinnis2, and it is quite possible that I would hear better ...

OK, so I bought the 24v adaptor from Maplin and it works great! However... the jack (the bit that you connect to the SoundBridge) is bent into a right angle, so the darn thing doesn't fit: the tube enclosure means that the jack would have to sit over the audio out phono connectors. So I will have to...
