Any word on Roku OS 9 coming to Roku TV anytime soon? Hoping for an audio delay fix.

I’m probably crazy but holding onto some shred of hope that there will be something in this update that helps correct the insane audio delay that was introduced to my TCL 55S401 Roku TV in an update in October-November-ish of last year. It’ll likely break more than it fixes, but my delay is so bad t...

You should be able to connect all video sources directly to TV and return audio to AVR via HDMI ARC. No?

I’m not sure if I could do that in theory, but I bought the AVR in an attempt to correct an audio sync issue with my Roku TV. I’m trying to take away its audio processing duties.

Re: What’s the best way to connect a Roku TV to an AVR?

This also means that all of my connected sources are stuck having the exact same video settings as each other since they’re all technically connected to the same HDMI input on the TV, at least as far as it’s concerned. Your assumption is wrong. Your TV will display whatever signal comes though HDMI...

Re: What’s the best way to connect a Roku TV to an AVR?

That's the way it works, regardless of the TV OS. If you use an AVR as your HDMI switch, everything appears to the TV as the same source. I haven't had any issues with that myself. I make sure my Yamaha AVRs are in video passthrough, to ensure they aren't doing any video rescaling or processing. Wh...

What’s the best way to connect a Roku TV to an AVR?

I have a TCL 55S401 Roku TV (which is experiencing audio delay, but I have many other threads on that issue) and a Pioneer VSX-532 with 5.1 speakers that I bought in an attempt to remedy the issue. With the AVR it seems that the only way to see video for all of the sources that are connected to it v...

Re: 55S401 major audio delay issues...even when using an AVR! What is going on?!

The specs for this tv says it passes through Dolby Digital Plus, and actually processes Dolby Digital (probably for transcoding DD+ via Optical).   TCL Specs You could test that processing theory by setting the Roku TV for Dolby Digital (not Plus) and see if you get transcoded Netflix in standard D...

Re: 55S401 major audio delay issues...even when using an AVR! What is going on?!

I just disabled ARC on my TV and turned on my Xbox One X, which is only connected to my AVR via HDMI. It now has no audio. That tells me that the TV is still somehow involved in delivering the audio. Something must be configured wrong. Edit: It was just set to “HDMI THRU” on the AVR instead of “HDMI...

Re: 55S401 major audio delay issues...even when using an AVR! What is going on?!

Yeah, I stand corrected - looks like it's the Roku OS that does the system updating here.  And I see you've been elsewhere looking for answers (AVS, Reddit, etc.). Looks like other Roku TV owners have experienced this issue. Did you do a factory reset on this TV? Or, did you do the less-intrusive a...

Re: 55S401 major audio delay issues...even when using an AVR! What is going on?!

What's the actual make/model of the Roku TV?   And note: I know you don't want to hear this, but it's not really a "Roku" issue. It's the TV's manufacturer (e.g. TCL), since it's undoubtedly their processing that's affecting the audio - particularly as you said it happens on other externa...

Yeah, if it's happening with both AVRs, I'm not sure you can do anything to fix it.. see if you can get a replacement Roku, because I'd consider this unacceptable.

It’s outside of warranty, so they won’t replace it.

Re: 55S401 major audio delay issues...even when using an AVR! What is going on?!

What's the brand and model of the AVR? Is there possibly a firmware upgrade for it? It’s a Pioneer VSX-532. No firmware upgrade that I could find. I also just grabbed a Denon S540BT. Same delay! Doesn’t make sense because even sources that are only connected to the receiver have the delay, like my ...

Doesn't your AVR have an adjustment for audio? Like a lipsynch setting or a manual millisecond adjustment? Mine has it, and I've had to use it for my cable box.

It does, but it’s only to ADD a delay from 5-500ms, and I need the delay reduced by about 100ms.
