Re: How To Easily Turn Any Roku On Or Off Without Pulling It Out Of It’s Port All The Time

I use a power strip that can shut off power to some devices when the master device (TV) is off/standby. That way my Roku Ultra powers off/on with the TV, the same on my other TV with a Roku Stick+ that gets power from a USB port on the TV. Here is the power strip I use I got from amazon that has the...

Try another wifi channel in your router, do not use auto channel.

Re: Ultra 4661R PCM only output

The 4640 is available from some sellers in Canada.  Before I go through the hassle of returning the 4660, I'd like some assurances that the 4640 works well with Netflix.  @NightHawk or anyone else who has the 4640? Yes my Roku Ultra 4640 I got thru amazon a couple months ago works with Netflix and ...

Re: Ultra 4661R PCM only output

@guitarboy Yes. The Roku Ultra (model 4660) will pass DD+ audio through to a A/V receiver that supports DD+ decoding. You can see more here:  https://support.roku.com/article/208754498-how-to-set-up-your-roku-streaming-player-for-surround-sound Thanks Tanner.  And is it correct that DD+ conversion ...

Re: How to enable DD+ to DD transocding on Ultra

That's even more frustrating, because it means that the problem will never be fixed with the 4660. I expect that some beancounter spec'd out a cheaper box to save money, customers be damned.  So if I replace my receiver with a DD+ capable model, will the Ultra even passthrough the DD+ signal? Excus...

Thanks for your help. How does that work, do the Ultra and the remote establish their own sort of "mini network"?

Yes, exactly.

Re: Hard Wired Roku Problem

Those wifi theoretical max speed figures are never realistic in practice.   For example, 1300Mbps with 5Ghz ac requires all 3 antennas both at the router end and the client end and located right next to the router. In practice many devices only have one antenna that cuts the speed to 1/3 (433Mbps ma...

Re: Hard Wired Roku Problem

There is probably nothing wrong with that router. You will not see your 100mbps achieved with wifi. 54 is certainly an acceptable result. I have Spectrum and wired to my desktop I get 115, whereas our wifi connected laptop gets 54.  Yep wifi speed depends a lot on the client device too, some don't ...

Re: Hard Wired Roku Problem

They used to make wired only routers, I use to have a Linksys router with 4 ports and  no wireless until I upgraded to a wifi router a few years ago.
I sold the older Linksys etherlink router on ebay, so there may other older used routers there for sale pretty cheap if you don't need wifi.

Re: Roku reset

Just do a factory reset that will clear out all account info from just that device and make it like it was when it was new, ready for a new account to be setup on it.

Re: Youtube TV Streaming Quality

No stuttering so much but a lot of the channels are running at 30 FPS instead of 60 FPS. Sports in particular look worse at the lower frame rate. I wonder if Google/Youtube has plans to fix this? With Google and its resources/infrastructure, it has the potential of creating a "superior" T...

Re: Youtube TV Streaming Quality

I just checked and some programs on VOD does stream in 1080P. However, All of the live channels I checked only show 720p as the maximum bit rate. One thing I did that made a big difference in the picture quality on Youtube TV was to change the streaming option from "Auto" to 720p. The pic...

Re: Roku Ultra 4640 vs 4661 vs (3500r)

Important thing that I learned from this forum is to insert Micro SD cards in them to make performance even better. I thought a micro SD card only helps on the Roku Ultra if you add lots of channels/apps and then running low on internal flash memory storage? I don't think a micro SD card speeds up ...
