Re: Roku with Spectrum away from home

I've logged into Spectrum's TV app using my mother-in-law's account credentials. (We set her account up, handled the install, and we pay the bill... she's 96) All works fine at her house on her network. From our own house there are channels available, but many are not. ALL of the locals are inaccess...

Re: next fall a new Roku?

I use a Tablo and watch Live TV on my Roku... and record it on the Tablo when we want to... over the antenna. (Dropped cable TV... kept internet and phone... saved about $100 a month) Changing channels by number is not Roku's responsibility. It's the responsibility of the app designer to give you a ...

My Roku is powered down with the TV and exhibits similar characteristics but many here claim to have NEVER experienced this.

I didn't realize the remotes sleep.
I never power off the Roku. I could see a delay if it powers off then upon reboot has to "search for" the remote to reconnect.

Re: remote does not function for minutes after reboot

Which Roku unit? Which remote? How many channels do you have installed? If wireless connection, 2.4GHz or 5GHz?
Define "hangs". I rarely reboot and of my Roku devices, which is why I'm asking.

Re: Remote Control problems - Streaming Stick +

Please clarify because my remote control keeps dropping connection to the stick as well. The Roku Streaming Stick already has a USB powered wall outlet. How is yours different? Thank you.  The other thing I did was get the free HDMI extension. It's not real long but it enabled me to get the stick a...

Re: EXISTING STREAMING SERVICE SUBSCRIPTIONS

Yes, we had Netflix, amazon prime, and a few others before we got our first Roku. Install the channel on Roku and the first time you run it you provide your login credentials. Done.

Re: Plex Roku channel vs. locally attached HDD

@RokuDale, Roku Media Player doesn’t have any style. It looks like it got left behind. It opens to a meager selection of icons that really don’t fit the idea of “media”. If the app were to get an overhaul, my first suggestion would be to, at the very least, style it more like Roku. Selection area on...

Re: Audio Issues

Check if that AVR has settings for the port you're using. Some have "digital" and "optical" settings. If your TV is putting out optical audio then having the receiver set to digital results in no sound. And vice versa. Also look in the TV manual and see what type of audio is puts...

Re: Remote Control problems - Streaming Stick +

When I first started I bought a Streaming Stick+ and found that when my TV shuts off, so does its USB port. I got tired of waiting for the Roku Stick to boot up every time we turned on the TV. But I also noticed this thing with it losing its remote. I ran a regular USB wall outlet powered to the Sti...

Re: Remote Control problems - Streaming Stick +

Do you have the stick powered on constantly? Or is it plugged into a USB on the TV?

Re: Any remote that you can change channels on using the keypad instead of up and down?

How you navigate within the app is not Roku's responsibility. That functionality has to be built into the app by Spectrum (good luck with that). And.... I could swear I was a virtual keyboard.... but that might have been on the samsung tv running the spectrum tv app and not the Roku. Don't remember....

Re: Plex Roku channel vs. locally attached HDD

Over the years I've found most routers are not very good DLNA servers. Kinda like those fax/scanner/copier/printer things :) And the Roku Media Player will work and find the router-based DLNA server and play the files (video and music) just fine. But you're still stuck with RMP's interface which the...

Re: Plex Roku channel vs. locally attached HDD

Take a look at RoksBox. I've not used it, but the interface looks like it might be more what you're looking for. There are several "flavors". I'd guess you just go for RoksBox xStream.
It's in the channel store.

Re: ISP out of service?

That's a good point, I have an extensive DVD library to consider as well and ditching the DVD player is part of the advanced plan.  Any suggestions of these DVD's can be integrated with an Roku echosphere?  I imagine converting them in some way to single file format using handbrake or similar tool....
