Extended life of HD1000 - what now ?

I have gotten all my Roku HD1000's repaired so they'll last a few more years. I only use them now to watch ripped DVDs. So, I am thinking about buying a HDHomeRun and installing MythTV on one of my PCs so I can watch recorded TV shows and or live TV through the Rokus. Does the HDHomeRun really work ...

Yes, I believe all the HD1000 power supplies will fail, it is a matter of when, not if.

and yes, I have had all my HD1000's modded by Pyramid Audio (and I own six!) - great job you Austin fellows !

well, i think the problem you are having is bandwidth related. either you don't have enough bandwidth from your ISP or your LAN is not fast enough to keep up with the streaming. Does playing music from your PC work OK ? My soundbridge used to be fine with MP3 but once I went flac, wireless bandwidth...

that is one sweet pre-amp! I was always disappointed that the Roku PB couldn't extract/play DTS on my ripped DVD's. I suppose the root of the problem was that Roku didn't license the appropriate IP from DTS lack of DTS + lack of subtitles mean that MPlay is not my perfect solution for networkable, r...

Is there a way to "ignore" a UPNP share?

My Sonos ZP-80's speak UPNP, I think, and they are broadcasting something that the Roku picks up on. But it kind of clutters up my Finder screen. I'd like to "filter out" the Sonos devices because the Roku will probably never be able to act as a client to their music serving abilties (assu...

Pyramid Audio has an excellent repair tech who knows how to repair the PB1000 quickly and expertly. Until the next generation PB1000 replacement appears on the scene, I think it is the way to go.

I'd still buy a used Rev. B on ebay :-) A friend bought an Apple TV and was gravely disapointed. The ability to add open source codecs and a relatively beefly MIPS processor that doesn't run too hot are great pluses. The MPeg2 ATI card seems good for DVD quality Video/audio. Add Mplay and SlimRoku t...

this is the size of the FLAC codec on the Photobridge (thanks, soiaf):
113684 Jun 2 13:48 libCascadeAudioCodecFLAC.so

I wish RokuLabs would officially support semi-current SlimServer and the FLAC codec.

For those still keeping score, SlimServer 6.5.2 came out of beta and went mainstream.

i've been running with SlimRoku 1.6b all day and its working fine, no lockups or anything.

If your router pass NTP requests, HD1000 will adjust time automatically. NTP doesn't correct for daylight savings - the rules are constantly changing and chaotically applied all over the world. This was discussed alot on slashdot.org around January. Thanks to Jim for providing the binaries - an unp...

wow! I downloaded your zoneinfo archive and unzipped it to a mounted share. I then copied EST5EDT to /etc/localtime I ran 'date' and then time had updated by an hour and says I'm in EDT now (before the clock was an hour behind and the date said EST). Thanks for making this fairly painless (for anyo...
