Might try (1) uninstall RMP (Roku media player), (2) restart your Roku, (3) reinstall RMP. do not skip step 2
Then try the RMP, and see if it sounds better.

DTV Now app works good on my Roku 2 (4210), and Premiere + (4630). Both Rokus have DTV Now app version 2.8 build 54. Programs stream good with no HOME page interruption. DTV Now also works good on my Windows 10 desktop with Chrome browser. 
I've only used Sling TV prior to Aug 2018, which worked good.
