Re: Third Party Ads on Roku

I have been a Roku user since 2009. It is sad to see the path being taken. When it is time to update my hardware I will be looking at other options. One of the things I have always liked about Roku is the sheer number of channels available. I like trying out new channels to see what is out there. Mo...

Re: Reuters News channel

Yep. Starts with audio then it stops. I will try again in a week or so to see if this gets sorted out.

Re: Newly Designed Amazon Video Channel Rolling Out

I am sure the owners of Microsoft Zunes would agree.  Huh?   Lord only knows where my Zune is or how functional it might be, but all the DRM'd music that I bought for it from MS is still available to me through the MS Groove Music app running on my Android devices and PC. MS still has a music servi...

Re: Newly Designed Amazon Video Channel Rolling Out

Haven't gotten the update yet, but what they (Amazon) should do is update the UI for the Fire TV as well. Roku's UI may not be pretty, but it's more organized than Amazon's own device.  I also hold out hope that Amazon will finally enable ultraviolet playback through Amazon Video, but I haven't hea...

Re: Disney To Buy Netflix?

This would be the death of Netflix. Big media could not help itself. It would change Netflix so much that it would be worse than Hulu. At least I would save some money each month. Right now I have both Netflix and Amazon Prime. If Disney bought Netflix I would drop Netflix and just stay with Amazon ...

Re: Five New Roku Models Leak — Three with 4K and Two with HDR

For me, HDR is more important than 4k. Well implemented HDR is very noticeable vs standard 1080p HDTV. Comparing standard 1080p HDTV to 4k at normal viewing distances, it is much harder (for me) to notice the difference. My 60" Samsung HDTV is only 2 years old. I will not be upgrading for any n...

Re: Plex DVR

I used a WMC PC (windows7) for years but it became a chore to keep it maintained. Microsoft kept pushing updates that would hang the system and I would miss recordings. When it worked (most of the time) it was awesome. I have since moved to a ChannelMaster DVR+. while it is not perfect, it is a simp...

Re: Feature Requests - Third Quarter 2016

How about selling a universal remote with Roku buttons built in? It would make a great add-on item.

Re: I am using NETFLIX less and less nowadays...

Yep. Same here. I rarely ever watch movies from Netflix. I watch TV shows and original content. I too have Amazon video, but only because I use prime shipping. I rarely find anything I want to watch on Amazon Prime.

Re: Independance Day

People seem to think fireworks are toys. They have the potential to be dangerous (like cars) if not used appropriately. We keep a couple of fire extinguishers handy and wear eye protection. We also choose a couple of (mostly) responsible adults to light the fireworks. Everyone else (adults and kids)...

Re: Anyone else

I have a 5.1 system but only use it for movies. I find watching most regular TV shows in 5.1 distracting. Much prefer them in plain old 2.0 format.

Re: DVR That Works With Roku

Not sure if you are asking to record shows that are watched through the Roku or if you want a DVR to record OTA programs then watch them on the Roku. If it is the later, see: https://www.tablotv.com/

Re: Walmart ad for cable cutting

Walmart is just trying to sell more stuff. I am sure they have no real allegiance to either side (cable companies or streamers). If they can "support" both sides and make more money, they will.
