Cool. I wonder now...is it running NFS, or SMB, or is the Roku just browsing it like any other UPnP server??? Good question -- I'll have to ask my wife when I get home as she is the IT professional in the house and set it up while I was in the shower! Something I've observed in the couple of ...

To quote the great Borat Sagdiyev -- "GREAT SUCCESS"! So after getting some files moved over I go to "Network Shares" and the MyBook drive is sitting there just waiting for me to click the box. I do so and it shows up on the main screen so I browse to a Phil Collins HD concert an...

So we picked up this 1 TB network-connectable external hard drive for $320 at Best Buy: http://www.wdc.com/en/products/Products.asp?DriveID=347 Haven't tried to see it from the Roku yet as we've been busy moving files over to it. Hopefully it works! We plan to pick up another one just like it to act...

"Simple and upgradable" sounds like what your wife is suggesting ... eSATA USB drives. Especially if you don't need the "real time" protection the RAID solutions provide. If you are comfortable with nightly backups, they could probably serve you pretty well. Yeah, I'm kind of li...

And then of course there's this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000R9DB5K/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&s=electronics At this point I'm at a loss, and to further complicate matters my wife (who's an IT tech) wants to simply buy two 1 TB external eSATA hard drives; one as primary for serving up our me...

I'm about to pull trigger on the beast below. Question though -- I thought I read somewhere that with the Buffalo products the drives are not user-replaceable. In other words, when a drive goes bad you have to send it in for a replacement. Can anyone confirm or deny? http://www.buy.com/prod/buffalo-...

Are you using the Canon HV20? I picked one up this summer and it's awesome. I do sometimes have problems capturing to my PC though. I've tried CapDVHS and several other apps, none of which work perfectly for me. Of course, perhaps I'm the problem... :) Do you ever get hiccups when playing your files...

Sharing a folder in Vista?

Recently got a new PC with Vista. I tried sharing a folder and at first the Roku saw it no problem, but the next day it didn't "recognize any media files" in that share. I rebooted and all was well until later in the day when it got lost again. Throughout this, the shares on my other PC wi...

Figured I'd add my name to the list. Funny, I thought that since my Roku is so old (Rev A, bought in June 2004) and it hadn't yet failed that I was going to get lucky.... WRONG! So Burkhardi, is Pyramid still doing repairs? :D I couldn't find the post where you laid out the different repair options...

Success! FLAC files play perfectly. Three questions though: 1) The "Install" icon removed itself by renaming to ".backup", but the "ReplayGain" icons did not. I manually added ".backup" to them to make them disappear -- is this appropriate? 2) I want to edit t...

It should be straightforward enough to install the codec (I hope!) but please let me know if you've any problems and I'll try to help out. I sure will. Let me ask -- when you say: "Unzip the contents on your computer (keep the directory structure). Create a directory (lets say codecs) on a com...

I've purposely avoided using this til now as every audio file I have is in .mp3 format. However, I'm thinking I want to start ripping with FLAC and still be able to play via the Roku. Only thing is I use Sonica -- after I install the FLAC codec via your "easy" method, will Sonica be able t...
