Re: HDMI black level

All these ideas are great. I think I will settle on splitting my receiver's HDMI output and put it into the 4 HDMI inputs on my TV. Then I can just use the input select on the TV to drive the black level settings per HDMI input.

Netflix Alias not so good via Roku

I am addicted to Alias. Recently, on the Roku Alias via Netflix video quality has greatly suffered even after waiting several seconds. If I watch it via AppleTV the video quality is fine. How can I fix this? I prefer the Roku interface.

Re: Roku 2: Any way to force 4 dots from beginning?

I to do not like the adaptive streaming. On my original Roku, the streams were always fine. I'm on AT&T's 24M/3M plan and shouldn't ever see garbage quality--yet I do. On the old unit, there was a test mode where I could force it to stream the highest only. Is there such a test mode on the Roku ...

Re: 4.2 but black level not fixed?

For folks with Samsungs, have you tried changing the "hdmi black level" setting under the "Picture Options" menu? I have a first gen roku so I don't have this issue, but have had various black level issues with htpcs in the past and changing the hdmi setting on the tv to match w...

Re: UK Roku usage

Could you use a US-based proxy for this? I'm not sure how you'd set it up, but there are tons of knowledgeable people on the interwebs.

Re: HBO stops selling DVDs to Netflix

I think this is a bad move for HBO. It makes them look like an ass. HBO has always been an ass, even when they were the only game in town. Content is king. Whoever owns the content makes the rules. The balance between consumer and content owner does not really exist because enough consumers bow (i....

Re: 4.2 but black level not fixed?

So, my Roku 1 looks much better even though it is only 720p. I hope we can get the Roku 2 at the same black level.

Re: 4.2 but black level not fixed?

If you send me the make and model of the TV, I will forward it over to the engineers. For the record, I don't have any information whatsoever on the original issue, so I can't adequately comment on it :( C. Shawn Smith yes you do. there are multiple threads with this problem occuring on samsung tv'...

Re: 4.2 but black level not fixed?

Does it matter if you use the same HDMI port on the TV? These inputs usually hold their own individual video settings including brightness, contrast, color, etc.. I'd try plugging the R2 in to the same port that the R1 is plugged into, just to be 100%. Of course if you're using a theatre system tha...

Re: 4.2 but black level not fixed?

Roku 2 looks like cr*p on my $3000 TV, but my original big'ol Roku looks fine. Both are HDMI connected to my Samsung PDP 8000 series. I give up; I'm going back to my old Roku box.

Re: go to previous firmware?

I asked in this thread: http://forums.roku.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=44689 and the response was "For efficiency's sake, it is MUCH better to have ALL engineers working on the same code...." Roku is far more content to make it's users wait for the "fix" (which may never arrive...
