Well, I'm not sure what the contents of that post are supposed to reflect.
I judge my performance from mplay, as that really all that matters. And unfortunalty this firmware upgrade did not fix anything as far as streaming MPEG-2 over 18mbps.
Ahhhh, gotcha. I live by the motto of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", so I'll hold off on upgrading into I stuble across a problem. As of right now, v.8 is working like a champ for me!
The files I have were captured using DVCAP, I think it's called, or something like that. Then renamed to .mpg They play fine from CF, but will not stream over standard windows shares, and I've been unable to get UPnP setup and working. Don't feel like tinkering with NFS. Either Roku gets this workin...
I await the SMB update pomised in previous posts by RokuDon to see if this gives enough extra bitrate and/or CPU cycles to MPLAY to reliably view HDV. I've got my figers crossed..... I don't think the issue is with bandwidth. I use an NFS share and can get 40Mbps and it doesn't help with high bit r...
#2 seems to work great. I have a 2 minute HDV clip that I try and stream. In the old mPlay I would have to wait about 15 minutes for it to studder through the clip, or reset the ROKU. With this new version I can exit at anytime. More importantly, I can press info and see what bit rate it's stutterin...
You are just exiting the SlimTray.exe application, which is nothing more than a monitor for the SlimServer service. If you want to stop it, check in the services.
Although I haven't noticed any problems with Slimserver bogging down my system.
Well, one thing is that I'm not exactly sure what I'm supposed to be seeing... From the PB side I mean. 1. Are you running FW 2.0.35? Yep. 2. What happens when you do this? Turn On PB Verify you see your normal Shares, Open WMC from Control Panel, Click Settings, Click Reset (Firewall Settings), Cli...
Well if the MAX per the FAQ is 20mbps, and he is seeing 50% gains, I assume we can expect to see 30mbps. This is same performance currently rated for streaming from the Compact Flash drive, per the FAQ. I've copied my full rez Sony HDV files to Compact Flash and they play back flawlessly. I really d...
What is the max mbps you've seen over SMB? I've been struggling trying to get some Sony HDV to stream with no luck. I didn't try setting up Apache, but I did put the desktop version of IIS and tried streaming through telnet by executing mplay.app http://192.168.0.1/filename.mpg and the video through...
Just wanted to jump in and thank TheEndless for everything he has done. I purchased the Roku almost a year ago with hopes of playing my photo's, music, and home videos through to my TV in 1080i. It never really worked like I expected it to, with lots and lots of problems. It certainly did not work o...
